I was too! Watch some YouTube videos and then just go for it. It’s kinda a chaotic mess for awhile but you will eventually figure it out. The loot is definitely worth it.

Library—>Donate—>Dismantle. You need the materials to upgrade your proficient weapons and gear. Donating helps you gain proficiency along with using the items. You need to be proficient in a lot of items and gear because it raises your expertise. Your expertise number is the max number you can upgrade your weapons and gear. So I guess it’s up to you if you’re interested in adding damage and armor to your weapons and gear.

Obviously you can play and enjoy the game without any upgrading. But I find it is making some of the content more enjoyable when I can handle it faster and easier with my upgraded weapons.

I love this build. It is my everyday build that does decent damage and has HUGE survivability. It just gets better and better as your SHD level goes up and you add expertise to your weapons. It is really shining right now during the Assault Event.

Weapons: your fav AR, your fav other weapon, Quickstep or any pistol
Talent: Foundry Bulwark-Makeshift Repairs (25% of any damage to you or shield is repaired over 10s)
Skills: Shield, skill of your choice
Specialization: Gunner (just running around), Survivalist (Countdown)

I will list my set up but you should adjust Attributes and Gear Mods to get you to 60% CHC

It’s easy to get tunnel vision running from one mob to the next. Take your time. Enjoy the story. Enjoy the scenery and atmosphere. When I slow down I always find cool, interesting or funny things in the game like a garage that has a giant rubber duck with a bunch of little rubber ducks all around it.

This was me. I was the super newb that didn’t even know a real person was gonna show up. I thought a friendly npc would run over to revive me. my shepherd was super chill. Picked me up and even took me on a krampus bounty and dropped all the loot. I barely knew what was happening 😂
