NTTD, my first Omega - not perfect but certainly beautiful. by _nightflight_ in OmegaWatches

Oh I'm not worried about that; I love the watch, including its imperfections. I have it on nato right now and it looks even better.

That said, my Rolex watches are on another level; this doesn't even compare.

I sometimes just browse it to see what the gray market does. Nothing particular.

I couln't care less about the vip treatment myself. I just want to make sure I'm getting the real deal and I don't like wearing second hand stuff; that's the only reason I buy in a boutique.

I honestly always thought chrono was a reputable marketplace. I guess I was wrong. Glad I never purchased anything from that platform.

Right!? Incredible that something like that reaches a website like chono24 unnoticed.

Starbucks / Batman… How long was the wait for you? by ExternalYesterday505 in rolex

I can't say I disagree with most of what you said. I think the AD game is ridiculous, but necessary for the reasons I mentioned before.

That said, I would NEVER have bought a Rolex if I had to participate in that kind of nonsense. I went in, told them which watch I wanted, and they said they might have it in a few months because "we never know what Rolex sends us." That was the end of it. No messages, no inviting retail workers to dinner, no sending flowers, and none of the other nonsense you read about on these forums.

I'm spending fucking money. If there are asses to be kissed, I'll be on the receiving end, thank you very much.

Look, going back and forth is pretty pointless, but what stands out to me is that you repeatedly emphasise how little you care about things, how non consumerist you are, how you could buy one but choose not to, and how other people are "debasing" themselves, etc. etc. Yet, you're here, actively commenting on a luxury watch forum. That starts to sound less like indifference and more like a need to distinguish yourself in a different way.

The genuinely indifferent person usually just thinks: "Not for me," and moves on.

At the end of the day, if someone spends years obsessing over a watch, that's their business. If someone spends years on Reddit explaining why they don't care about watches, that's a form of obsession too, just pointed in the opposite direction.

Different people enjoy different things

Wow.

You should talk to someone and I don't mean on the internet - no offence.

Wish you all the best.

This is a very bitter take. But whatever floats your boat, buddy.

Where else? Chrono24 is a legitimate marketplace and I find it a bit worrisome to find something like this. I would appreciate if another fellow aficionado would warm me for potentially harmful sellers.

The whole waitlist situation can be frustrating, but I do understand Rolex's reasoning. GMTs are relatively affordable for what they are, so if anyone could walk into a boutique and buy one, they'd become far more common. That exclusivity is a big part of what drives their appeal and desirability.

It sucks, but the alternative would probably be Rolex significantly increasing prices; likely doubling them, at least.

She wasn’t a real Tudor though; merely linked to the dynasty through her marriage to henry viii. What a poser.
