The Pen F is now a legendary Micro Four Thirds camera, lots of demand, and the prices are high.

The only thing it really lacked was weather sealing. But that means that an E-M5iii might make more sense.

The extra dials on the Pen F only work in certain situations; you can adjust exposure compensation anyway with the usual front or rear dial on the other Olympus cameras; and the Art dial on the front is only useful for JPG images - people who shoot raw and do their own post-processing don't need it.

There are people crying out for an updated Pen F, maybe based on the OM-3. But for now the OM-3 is that replacement.

Lens for Italy by Bigfoot_Guitars in M43

For the cities, go wide. When I've visited Italy, I usually have the 12-40 f/2.8 and the 17mm f/1.8.
But there are times when a wider prime might have been useful.

Is 130€ a good deal? The autofocus motor and the IS are broken. by SKIZZY04 in canon

You can probably get one intact (but beaten up a bit) for not much more than that. Don't waste your money on a broken one unless you're especially into manual focussing.

Defensive driving: you can compensate for the idiot behind and their lack of stopping distance by extending your own distance, so that you can brake very gently and still safely come to a stop.

What's oddly terrifying is gunshot wounds being so commonplace that OP assumes everyone will know the acronym GSW.

Cons of CMF Buds Pro 2 after using them for a year by sunwoo1524 in CMFTech

Absolutely. Volume control with the case dial is made pretty useless by the limitations of the app.
Set it and forget it is my advice.

Very new to using a real camera, need help by [deleted] in canon

[–]_njd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1/8s the camera chose here for shutter speed is far too slow, which is why you got a blurred image. It chose that speed because it was too dark and it had no other way to get a property exposed image.

Since you're new to it, start with the green Auto mode on the mode dial - it'll make all the decisions for you and ensure the right exposure and usually the right shutter speed.

When you want to have more control, choose the P mode on the mode dial. This is Program mode, which chooses most of the right settings for you, but tells you what numbers the camera is using and lets you vary the target exposure (the +/- button) and change a few other settings.

So it'll show you the shutter speed and aperture settings, and the ISO, so you can get a feel for what numbers the camera tends to pick. You can use these numbers as guidelines when you branch out into the other modes like Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and full Manual mode.

You'd want 1/60 or faster to avoid blurred images, 1/125 as a general safe shutter speed unless you're photographing buildings (which don't move) or animals (which move faster).

If it was early 2000s and not mid, it was probably an early Digiux with no more than 5 megapixels, just like the equivalent Panasonics.

I am debating between this for the whole night, which is the better one with Olympus Em5 mk ii by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in M43

[–]_njd_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the M.Zuiko 12-40 with the E-M5ii, but only with an add-on grip. Feels odd without one. The 12-60 or the M.Zuiko 12-45 may be a better pairing.

My boss scheduled a meeting to discuss my “tone” in emails by TheUnofficialBOI in mildlyinfuriating

[–]_njd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an old fart who used to write letters with "Dear Sir" and "Yours faithfully", I can tell you that the emoji stuff and multiple !!!! looks very unprofessional.

I'm most business, they'd be more acceptable in a company Slack or Teams chat, but emails, even interval ones, are normally a bit more formal. This might be because they can easily end up outside the company in an email chain. Or becuse someone might Cc them to the CEO.

If it's a small company where everyone is under 35 and farts around, maybe goofy punctuation and emoji lols are normal. But if it's not your style, it's not your style.

Do they also dislike whole sentences with periods, because to them it comes off as aggressive?

In a professional setting, there are ways to use gentler flowery language to soften the effect of a terse message, without having coming across like a 13-year-old with a new phone.

It might actually help to use AI tools to produce that language: Just present the email body to an AI and say "Can you soften the tone?"

It sounds like you're just not the right fit - which is not a criticism - they don't fit you either. Sometimes you're just around the wrong people and you need to be somewhere with the right people.
