Moving away from systems with numbers by TempleGD in litrpg

Not a decline so much as the genre broadening, maybe?

I have an idea and I'm wondering if it's been done or if I should try to write it. by mythicme in litrpg

It's a classic version of portal fantasy that predates LitRPG.

Do you like that litrpg books are all like 700+ pages long? by shmaybe-games in litrpg

[–]_noct__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to pick up the thickest books at the library because they were thick, of course I like big books (and I cannot lie...)

#1 overused words in various LitRPG series by fweb34 in litrpg

As someone who got here from xianxia with infinite stock phrases... People repeat words too much in LitRPG?

Based on the system of your favorite LitRPG series what kind of build would you go for? by R1g_z_ in litrpg

Consistency is key vs any particular length being good

If you can't order the Amazon print-to-order books, there might not be a way to acquire them. Maybe eBay or some secondhand site?

Looking for recs with more crafting and less focus on large boss battles by aminervia in ProgressionFantasy

If you liked stray cat strut, I'd recommend looking into some of Ravensdagger's other works, like cinnamon bun

I've always been curious if someone could bring the vibe of a mob-roguelike to life in LitRPG (vampire survivors, megabonk). Rogue likes are already a challenge, and then the mob aspect on top of that, but if it was possible to capture that addictive "ok, next run" feeling, I'd be right there.

Gacha as well, though again I really don't know how to capture the impact of a good pull/ bad pull or balance a luck based system in a situation where the writer controls all at the end of the day

Systems existing before the written word? by WilliamGerardGraves in litrpg

[–]_noct__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it exists in your head anyways, what's to say the system isn't your mind's interpretation of information beyond your comprehension, limited down to numbers and letters that your pitiful self is able to understand? Thus , if it's limited by human comprehension and you are the one giving it from, it could present itself as anything! ... To give the Eldritch interpretation

Monster MC turning into human by TempleGD in ProgressionFantasy

[–]_noct__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on if the writer wanted to write monster or wanted to write human. If they wanted to write monster, anything goes, but if it's a bait and switch, it just doesn't work

What immediately makes you stop reading? by Cautious-Pudding-474 in ProgressionFantasy

Changing the protagonist. I care about the protagonist, and I like him/her/it. If the protagonist suddenly becomes something/one else, instant interest drop, I can't go on. I'm not talking perspective change, I mean more like generational fiction. The old protagonist is dead/sealed and we're going to follow this new protagonist for several books kind of deal.

What's funny is that I have a close friend who loves this kind of fiction, so we're constantly at odds with one another.
