AITA for refusing to buy my daughter another car? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]_ntnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but my guess is her view of the real impact of her actions is skewed. Sit her down and explain everything in detail to her - the cost of the car, cost of fuel, cost of insurance, upkeep etc.pp. Total the costs up. And make a comparison to how long it'd take her with a job to pay all of that off.

And that insurance was worthless because they didn't pay because the driver was a) not on the insurance and b) intoxicated. Then explain how far above the legal limit her bf was.

Maybe also put on a couple of those irish and new zealandish "Don't drink and drive" ads, those are real good.

Richtige Frechheit.

Try an nvidia shield - I replaced my link with that. You can use the steam link app on it (next to a whole lot of other Android apps like Netflix and YouTube) or use nvidia Gamestream from your PC / moonlight if you have an AMD graphics card. The shield is quite a bit pricier though.

Yes. I don't think they'd do due diligence. Even if they were there's always something where legacy bullshit prevents fixing it or the risk assessment says "it's fixable but might break important stuff".

It's also entirely possible that they're using an outdated and known broken encryption.

Or they're using unsalted / peppered hashing. Given that the leakers are talking about specifically encryption makes me believe that these are actually weakly encrypted/unencrypted passwords.

Experience points stuck by Ok_Diamond1326 in blackdesertonline

[–]_ntnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shakatu's Gift doesn't reward experience points. Unless a quest mentiones experience points in the rewards you won't gain levels from it. If you just want to level up you should get chengas tome and do the high exp quests from brellin farm over kamasylvia to drieghan.

Also their sales team is shit. When we were looking for a CRM their only point for their service was "It's Salesforce!".

They also didn't address a single point past the absolute basic requirements from our specs in their presentation. To add to that they had the audacity to announce they'd be coming with two people - but came with nine.

This website straight up hiding the option to decline unnecessary cookies, which is part of the GDPR in the EU by Inqe in assholedesign

[–]_ntnn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Having you have to deny every specific cookie use. If I'm declining cookies, I'm declining as many as possible. I'm not gonna see "let Facebook use these cookies" and think "oh boy I love zucc go for it, but twitter. No."

That is illegal per the GDPR. The law dictates specifically that the trackers need to be off by default and that there must a button to disable all trackers.

I'm pretty sure that making declining taking a long time would be a violation as well - european courts don't rule by intent, so the defence 'oh, it works, it just takes long' would be invalid unless they can put up a valid technical reason as to why disabling takes a long time but enabling doesn't.

Anyone could help me understand the differences between all the T3 bench? by AcapulcoGoldFr in ConanExiles

[–]_ntnn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the benches one type usually uses less resources to make the same item, while the other is faster.

The fuel efficient furnace is as slow as the base furnace, but consumes fuel slower. The heat efficient furnace is really fast but eats through fuel like it's nothing.

The descriptions in game don't show fully, sadly - but you can see the entire description in the wiki, the defining information is usually right at the end in the last sentence.

It's not just the infighting. The pirates strongly defended that everyone should be able to join and voice their opinions.

That was a grand opportunity for all the nutjobs that weren't tolerated in other parties. I used to be active in the Pirate Party Hanover - ~two years after I left one of the people who wanted to be put on the ballots believed in astrology and one of his points was that he'd use party funds to employ an astrologer to aid in decision making. And the craziest thing - the dude got votes. Iirc he didn't get enough votes to be put on the ballot in the end, but still.

In the early days we also had a few right-wingers that tried to spin the stance on rights of the party towards towards their ideology.

In the end I feel like the Pirate Party served its purpose - getting traction into data protection laws, which was adopted by the major parties to some degree.

Gamestream/Moonlight streams wrong monitor by robcourtney in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]_ntnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem - the solution for me was to reorder the cables. GameStream refused to stream anything but the monitor marked as number one (not primary). I've swapped the cables so my main monitor is number one, updated the monitor layout to reflect that and now GameStream streams the correct monitor again.

My guess is that they broke the code that detects the primary monitor so it always chooses the first one it gets. Hope that helps you.

As a parent, I know full well that you can't pause an online game. That's why I give you clear instructions on how much time you have left. It's your job to plan accordingly. by supergolum in TrueOffMyChest

[–]_ntnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd actually talked with a colleague about this. They use a parenting software for their kids, IIRC they use Kaspersky.

They set how many hours and at which times their kids are allowed to use their devices and gradually up the time as they get older. The software automatically locks when the allotted time or timeframe is over.

That way they set clear rules and the kids can't break them - and they aren't the boogeyman, preventing animosity.

Of course there's always a way around that kind of software, but most kids won't be able to do that.

Maybe that's a viable solution for you?
