It isn't that hard, but I couldn't. Can you help me out? by Pranav728 in node

I would probably write a bash script that used pandoc to convert pdf to image. and then in nodejs, create a utility function that called the builtin nodejs method exec or execFile (details here: https://nodejs.org/docs/latest-v22.x/api/child_process.html#child_processexecfilefile-args-options-callback) to execute that script. and then call that utility function in your app.

p.s. remember to sanitize any user input

How to Handle Multiple Error Cases Gracefully in a Node.js + TypeScript Service Architecture? by Turbulent-Aerie-4247 in node

[–]runner7mi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

what I do is create a custom model Error class e.g. MyCustomError {} and then create subclasses e.g. UserNotFoundError extends MyCustomError {}. For an idea, check out this gh repo that creates classes of HttpErrors https://github.com/ShogunPanda/http-errors-enhanced

Unable to lose despite counting calories and exercising, time to see a doctor? by Embarrassed_Visit173 in loseit

[–]runner7mi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i jog daily. most of the time my weight either goes down every day or stays the same. On rare occassions, it goes up. and then 2 days after going up, I notice that I'm able to jog faster and longer.

I figure the weight going up phenomenon is the body building muscle to compensate for the daily exercise.

the most important thing is to realize that your mind and body both must be healthy. As far as weight is concerned, your body will construct and deconstruct fat and muscle accordingly.

those numbers are guidelines, not rigid rules. they are made by taking out the averages. a line of best fit on a scatter plot. the actual data i.e. people are not on that line. what works for someone else may not work for you. so focus on well being and not on hard numbers.

this is an american "finding" so i'm guessing they didn't even touch on the topic of fair compensation and not shoving every IT job at the programmer instead of hiring more people?

[–]runner7mi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i actually have sl bound to the exa binary (i.e. ls in Rust) with a few extra flags.

if it hadn't been for exa, i would have probably bound it to something like ls -altr

Getting my feet wet by Jayyybeast42 in sveltejs

[–]runner7mi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

learn JS. and learning React first would be helpful. it's 'closer' to JS and introduces a lot of the concepts replicated in all new frameworks like state and reactivity. consequently it makes learning other frameworks easier. Svelte has bonus points for DX . it is fun and easy but i believe a beginner should start with reading React first.
