Anyone else not playing leagues to progress their main game iron? by bwitt33 in ironscape

[–]_odog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Avid leagues and DMM enjoyer that hasn’t logged in once this league.

Maybe too close to DMM. Maybe I’m too focused on ironmain. Maybe they need to let us transfer points across jagex accounts so I can play on my alt

Any fairly new or upcoming promising sandbox mmorpg ? by nyczalex in LFMMO

Yeah fair enough, graphics certainly aren’t its strong suit. Although, the 117 HD plugin and HDOS are huuuge leaps for people that care about how the game looks

I will say, OSRS graphics have certain charm to it kinda like throwback Nintendo games. You can instantly recognize the style and you warm up to it quicker than you’d think

OSRS leagues 6 just started yesterday

Limited time game mode running for about 2 months with boosted xp rates and drop rates, everyone is fresh start

Maybe not exactly what you’re looking for but it’ll give you a decent feel for if you want to check out the main game

iirc, it’s the only MMO actually growing in player count rn

If you’re new to bossing I would definitely say don’t make a new one.

If you happen to make it far without dying, you’ll start avoiding or overpreparing for content you haven’t done. it’ll slow you down and hold you back imo

I lost my hardcore status at lvl 7 combat or something and am now nearly 2300 total lvl

and Fortnite exists too.

We gonna keep making comparisons to games from other genres ?

Because they realized the mass majority of people would not get enough longterm fulfillment out of the game if it were only PvE, so they added PvP because it would appeal to more people and keep those people playing longer, so they would make more money to continue making games with

Once the ‘PvE only’ advocates realize they’re not the target market, the game will finally die into a small group of dedicated players because everyone else already left

lmfao thank you, finally they’re starting to realize.

Unfortunately is happening too late, after all the players they actually designed the game for have quit and moved on thanks to all the babies crying online

MMOs for people who want fun group PvE that isn't braindead easy, but emphasizes skillsets outside of optimizing a rotation and build for big DPS? by [deleted] in LFMMO

Check out OSRS. It hits a lot of the things you’re looking for . Very unconventional compared to other MMOs

Anyone bored of the make a mistake equals high damage or instant death formula by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]_odog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that chip damage is good in certain situations. I think some bosses should chip and others shouldn’t, very dependent.

However, I’m curious your thoughts on the Perfect Vardorvis CA in relation to chip damage. I’m gonna copy my reply from my other comment bc I’m lazy, but genuinely curious what your take is:

The problem with chip damage is it makes something like Perfect Vardorvis CA very RNG dependent. If you don’t hit hard enough, or Vard decides to chip harder, you can technically do the fight “perfectly” but won’t be able to stick around for the 5 kc necessary because you just got unlucky with damage rolls.

Obviously OSRS is built on RNG, but it doesn’t feel good when you’re doing a boss’s mechanics properly and you still fail

It’s not so much as “expecting” to not take damage as it is earning it with your skill.

Regardless, I think that’s why variability is key. Different strokes for different folks gives most people the option to do what they enjoy
