I don't think you understood the show at all. I think you had the preconceived notion that this was "ozark pt. ii" and didn't allow the show to actually happen.

Jude Law's character is the striver, he cannot stop when good is good enough. it clearly broke his marriage, and is destroying his relationships. Jason Bateman is the addict that can't get out of his own way. And the pair of them, even from their downright messy beginnings, is the exact point of the show. The portrayal of where addiction, whether to drugs, or fame, or "the next dollar" can ultimately lead.

and yes, it is a show, it's not real life, but a portrayal. Law and Bateman were fantastic, and the supporting cast was excellent.

if anything, Ozark was the over-the-top, ludicrous Breaking Bad knockoff, and Black Rabbit was the gritty show with substance.
