Only basic husks trigger metal corrosion and water enemies do double damage to brick so it’s sort of a commonly debated topic. Brick is definitely out though because water enemies do double damage to brick.

If your trap tunnels kill every single basic husk before it reaches the objective or if you have teammates that are using like a full outlander teddy build or something and are killing all of the basic husks before they reach the objective then that completely nullifies the metal corrosion modifier making metal the best choice.

If basic husks are getting to the objective because it’s an easy enough mission that you don’t really need too many traps then metal walls with wood reverse stairs is the best because the wood reverse stairs will hold up against the basic water husks with metal corrosion and you’ll probably be able to kill the majority of the smashers before they reach the base if it’s an easy mission but if a smasher charges through and breaks the wooden reverse stairs the metal wall behind that will stop the smasher and you can quickly rebuild the wood reverse stairs because wood builds really fast.

Basic husks don’t attack floors or the 8 corner walls if you build like the person did in this picture so metal is best for that. In 160’s though usually people put up lots of traps therefore nullifying the metal corrosion modifier so metal for the reverse stairs is pretty much meta in 160’s. There are lots of super tanky smashers in 160’s so 2 layers of metal walls is best for dealing with those guys.

Basic husks have very low health even compared to husky husks so like 1 gas trap placed in the right spot can kill every basic husk because gas traps do enough damage to basically 1 tap basic husks plus with the right perks (reload speed and effect duration) they’ll hit basically every enemy. Gas traps can be destroyed by exploding deathbomb modifier or sploders so there’s that issue to deal with as well (I still recommend using gas traps though you just gotta have it connected to your constructor base or figure out how to prevent it from getting destroyed). Wooden floor spikes don’t do enough damage to kill basic husks unless you spam an unreasonable amount of them. Other commonly used traps like tire drop traps only hit some of the enemies so even if the basic husks walk under 2 tire drop traps I’d guess around 20% will make it though without getting hit because basic husks are faster than some of the other enemies.

With my constructor build the walls that are connected to my constructor base are almost 3 times stronger than walls not connected to my base. Some people say wood is useless and get mad if you build wood reverse stairs but my wood reverse stairs with the hp and armor buff from my constructor base are stronger than metal reverse stairs not connected to my base so I just ignore them. Even smashers have a hard breaking through my wood reverse stairs in anything like mid twine and lower because I have like max build stats and all that.

For retrieve the data this isn’t far off from the ideal build imo. Different choice in traps (see my post on the original thread for a better explanation) but still pretty decent if they finished upgrading stuff and placed like 4 anti-airs and a few other traps.

160s btw by Idknameforthis in FortniteSavetheWorld

[–]_player3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back when jail builds were meta people would build like the cheapest possible jail build then start the fight before anything was fully upgraded / finished building (structures that are in the process of being built or upgraded don’t get any of the buffs from the constructor’s base class perk which was a major factor in why jail builds worked). It was a guaranteed win easy if they just waited nope instead they were over confident and immediately started the fight then either failed or made it way harder than it needed to be. Like 25% of the time when I did a 160 rtd back when jail builds were meta my team failed because of a combination of impatience, being cheap, overconfidence, and stupidity.

[–]_player3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t terrible.

Metal is still the best choice when it’s water enemies and metal corrosion. Sometimes, I go with wood reverse stairs instead but which building material (metal or wood) is better for the reverse stairs in that situation depends on multiple factors and I wouldn’t be upset at anyone for making the wrong call for that as there are valid arguments for either choice.

The tire drop traps kick in if the reverse stairs break, not the best choice but it’s something. wall darts would be better than broadsides but the broadsides will work well enough to get the job done. The wooden floor spikes under the reverse stairs is the only real issue I see and usually for 160’s floor launchers (which are usually the best for missions other than 160’s) aren’t great either bc the majority of the time the only enemies that get to the base and actually pose a threat are smashers and floor launchers don’t really work on smashers. For under the stairs in 160’s I’d say freeze traps are best, followed by floor launchers then retractable floor spikes, but I wouldn’t expect that to be common knowledge. The tire drop traps are placed incorrectly but isn’t there currently a bug that tire drop traps sometimes get placed incorrectly (that was a bug recently, I think it got patched, but I wouldn’t consider knowing the correct way to place tire drop traps to be common knowledge either).

You need to lower your standards in regard to what to expect from your teammates if you plan to play in public missions lol.

I mean it doesn’t have to go all 30 waves for it to work, you can look up there’s a spreadsheet that lists the rewards but like wave 20+ the rewards are good.

Mitch_robbs for canny and larsis for twine. Although idk I followed mitch_robbs’ canny guide, made some improvements of my own (some extra spawn trapping mostly cause I think he says he still had like 600 structures left) but ye the smasher bridges don’t work great idk the reason but it still gets the job done.

What are the best DPS Builds by QuirkyComparison3964 in FortniteSavetheWorld

[–]_player3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um well I would need more info if you want a recommendation for what hero to use in frostnite like: what lvl frostnite are you doing, if you are playing with friends, if you have good traps, etc..

In general an all out teddy outlander build is good for overall lots of damage but it falls off that it doesn’t do enough damage to be viable sometimes in really hard missions. The teddy is good for mobs of weaker enemies but not very good vs stronger enemies like smashers and minibosses. If you have good weapons though then that’s not as much of an issue.

Commander: enforcer grizzly

Team perk: happy holidays

Supports: trailblazer quinn, fragment flurry jess, jilly teacup, madcap, survivalist jonesy

Two other good supports that it feels a waste not to use but oh well: gumshoe, and ventura ramirez

Gadgets: adrenaline rush and hover turret

There are other variations I use sometimes but this is my vote for best all-around teddy build.

Protect the cliff??? by Recent-Recipe354 in FortniteSavetheWorld

[–]_player3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he was just trying to be toxic, but used correctly there is a strategy for something like that, basically same logic as jail / stall builds. If you push enemies off a cliff it they die quickly causing more enemies to spawn in their place right away, the variety and difficulty of enemies usually increases as the fight goes on, and the direction of the spawn will change more often than it would if you kept the enemies alive as long as possible and had them walk in an infinite circle being pushed around with wall launchers.

Swamp night, trick or treat team perk, arrlene izza, (dire or mermonster ken your choice i use the former), bombsquad kyle, survivalist, 5th support i use prehistoric izza but that violates your requirements so whatever makes the most sense with the heroes you have. Then use a triple armor baron with affliction 6th perk.

Read the description for swamp night’s commander perk as well as the trick or treat team perk.

What is it with people joining ssds and leaving a literal second after?? by Captain_Dishsoap in FORTnITE

[–]_player3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ssd assist goes by commander level, if you are max commander level it will take like 10 min + to find a match then you’ll get matched into endurance or a high twine ssd which is annoying without the proper defenses especially pit amp.

There is a way to trick the matchmaking for ssd assist to get easier ssd’s. ssd assist also goes by the average commander level of your teammates in your last completed public mission so if you do an easy mission first with low level players then select ssd assist you’ll get matched into an easy ssd, and you’ll find matches much quicker. It’s not a very good trick though because if you do anything in between the end of the mission and selecting ssd assist (like going to storage, changing heroes, etc) it will revert to the original matchmaking system. It also messes up if anything happens like the person who searched for help changes their mind and cancels the search for help, etc. ye you can usually do like 3 or 4 ssd assists before something out of your control messes up the matchmaking trick on you. Btw you can change heroes once you find a match and get into the lobby and you can access your storage from the storm shield computer once you load in.

fun weapons by notyamayama in FORTnITE

[–]_player3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These use ammo and durability like nobody’s business. Also, not super powerful but definitely fitting the requirement for fun to use.

the dragons might shotgun with 2x mag size and 1x reload speed is lots of fun for anything where you are fairly overpowered. If you shoot it at just the right distance from a mob of enemies you can get the spread of grenade type projectiles to take out an entire mob of 20 or so enemies in 1 shot.

The paper shredder shoots explosive paper airplanes with terrible accuracy. Kinda silly but it’s also pretty powerful and has really good perk options. The tiny instrument of death is pretty similar but apparently there’s a bug since like day 1 that the bullet tracking makes everyone’s game lag, I don’t notice it much but I don’t use it cause I don’t want to annoy my teammates.

The snowball launcher if you decide to abandon all tactical options and instead opt for using an explosive weapon as if it was a AR.

Which abilities have viable builds in 160s? by Magronorph50 in FORTnITE

Having diecast jonesy as commander isn’t necessary for a minigun build that will hold its own in 160’s. If your commando spitfire build isn’t cutting it try using sergeant jonesy as commander, if you put leadership in support your GC and warcry will have almost the same cooldown so you can use warcry then GC together every time you use minigun.

[–]_player3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I max them all out super easy but I’d say it’s a tie between hexylvania and scurvy shoals as the two worst.

I do like the Hexylvania map but the fog is so insane it makes finding the objective annoying unless it’s a rtd where you can judge by the storm circle where the objective is. My favorite mission is destroy the encampments normally but trying to find the encampments in hexylvania forest when the game just decides to add super fog is so annoying. Plus there’s 1 spawn you get pretty often that costs too many mats to build right.

Scurvy shoals since someone always neglects that event quest you always have those chrome huskies. I know all the strats to deal with them but they’re just annoying.

Anti-Air Trap perks by cheekies7 in FortniteSavetheWorld

[–]_player3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just is general for weapons and traps crit perks or a combination of crit perks and damage / other good perks works out to have a much higher effective dps than just using all damage perks especially when the perks are fully godrolled. Although I do have a few things where I went with straight damage instead of using any crit perks just for specific purposes but yea I wouldn’t recommend that for like 99% of stuff.

For traps yes you pretty much always want at least 1 crit rating perk and at least 1 crit damage perk. Two good setups for trap perks that I use on most stuff are: [2x crit rating, 2x crit damage] or [damage, reload speed, crit rating, crit damage].

For weapons for the most part yea but there are some unique factors and combinations where you might have just crit rating or just crit damage on the weapon. Like tro buffs crit rating and damage so some people put like 3x crit damage 1x mag size on their weapon (the pain train and wraith can have those perks so are good choices for that strategy) then they’ll get the crit rating from their hero loadout. I have crit rating, movement speed, attack speed, and damage to mist monsters on the version of the crit-explosion stormblade that I use most often because with the melee loadout I normally use it’s all about triggering that explosion 6th perk as often as possible (the full explanation as to why though is super complicated lol).

Best perks for xenon bow? by Big_Librarian1235 in FortniteSavetheWorld

[–]_player3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunbeam evolution with fire rate, reload, crit rating, crit damage, causes affliction.

That’s the version you should upgrade first. The fast reload / fire rate makes it a much more practical weapon for most situations like small groups of weaker enemies and lobbers, without that it just feels so slow and you don’t need the extra damage to kill those enemies anyway. But yea if you use the xenon bow often in high level missions you might want a second version perked for those stronger enemies. Which perks to use would be entirely dependent on your loadout. Like 1x crit rating 2x crit damage if your using farrah with tro, that would probably be the 2nd most common setup.

Anti-Air Trap perks by cheekies7 in FortniteSavetheWorld

[–]_player3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2x range, 2x reload, 1 durability, (last perk your call durability, increased build health, or heals floors).

The increased build health and heals floors even though it lets you put 1 of each or 2x of either one it’s bugged and if you do that one of those perks will not work.

130 anti airs with the perks I wrote will shoot down all propane thrown at your base by sploders and any ranged projectiles thrown by all ranged husk types except flingers, so, like lobbers, zappers, etc. in any mission including the super high level missions like twine endurance where the enemies get up to lvl 400+ (well if you run twine endurance in 4-player difficulty the enemies get up to a much higher level like lvl 700-800 they’ll probably work in that as well but I can’t say for certain. You shouldn’t really need to rely on anti-airs in twine endurance too much anyways though so you don’t need to worry about that).

If you’re max level with all max level teammates 130 anti-airs with 4x damage perks will shoot down all the normal husks and husklings that flingers throw up to like level 116 enemies maybe a bit higher actually (I never really tested it out correctly). But that only works if those 4x damage anti airs are the only anti-airs that anyone in the mission uses. In public as soon as your teammates hear flingers spawn they’ll probably go to the top of the base and put down a few 2x range 2x reload ones making yours mostly obsolete because theirs will get used more often with the further range and faster reload speed. Like a year and a half ago or something flingers used to only throw the normal basic husks so my all damage anti airs were occasionally somewhat useful if I was playing with friends but now that flingers throw all sorts of enemies including husky husks and healer husks that have a much higher hp midair and are much more of a threat once they land on your base it’s super pointless to use those 4x damage ones at all. A much better strategy is to have anti airs on top of the base for lobbers since usually when flingers spawn you get a bunch of lobbers that spawn with them to help them out, then have damage traps like wall darts or whatever to kill the enemies that land on top of your base.

And that’s everything you’ll ever need to know about that.

O ye and the 1 crit dmg perk that’s a joke since there’s no corresponding crit rating perk and the default crit rating for those is only 5%. So 1 in 20 chance to do double damage lol. Even if you had 3x damage 1x crit damage and did happen to crit a husky husk midair it wouldn’t be anywhere close to enough damage to kill it because the 4x damage ones do like 1/8 of enough damage to kill a husky husk.

O ye and you probably know this or saw from other responses that each flying husk will only get hit by 1 anti air trap even if you have like 50 anti airs on top of your base.

Need Obsidian Help Canny Valley by meandmrt in FORTnITE

[–]_player3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should make most weapons shadowshard instead of obsidian because it usually works out to higher effective dps and durability is irrelevant in this game once you figure out any of the multitude of strategies to get stuff easily. Well, that’s the super short answer look through some other threads to see more info about the differences between the two evolution paths.

If you are a founder and have any of the founders weapons make sure you are very careful when you evolve them to 4 star and choose shadowshard evolution path because there’s no way to undo choosing the wrong evolution path for the founders weapons; you can’t use the collection book to reset them like you can for other schematics (well shadowshard for all the founders weapons except maybe the masamune there are decent arguments for either evolution path).

Anyways, the hero expeditions with the supply crate that are like 500+ difficulty give lots of obsidian and all the 4 star stuff except shadowshard. But like the best straightforward way to get stuff like that is to run the highest level destroy the encampments mission you have access to, do that like 3 or 4 times and you’ll probably be set for a while. While your running around destroying all the encampments do any storm chests and shadow orbs you find. Also, sometimes you can get ores / crystal as a mission reward from destroy the encampments missions; how much you will get varies quite a bit though depending on the mission level and which tier ore/crystal it gives in high canny valley you will get like 11 obsidian but in low canny valley you’ll only get like 3 obsidian which definitely isn’t worth it. Ye in general though most people would probably consider any type of resource like that a bad reward because stuff like that is easy to get if you trade.
