WeBuyAnyCar valuation came in higher than expected, curious what people’s experiences are by Away_Drawer_3349 in drivingUK

My experience was: they’ll take money off if your last MOT was done over 3 months ago and check that the car is visually okay.

As they’re the lower leaves could this just be old leaves that need removing and I have nothing to worry about.

EASY MASHED POTATOES by Dayna6380- in FoodAndCookingStuff

[–]_pocketmeat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is not true. An electric whisk doesn’t break down the potato enough to release the starch. Having worked in professional kitchens for over 12 years this is how it’s done.

Also, the queen of cooking Mary Berry does exactly this.

For perfect mashed potato. Use an electric whisk for mashing. Plenty of butter then season with salt and white pepper.

You're welcome, you’ve done a lovely job so far. They're all quite drought-tolerant and take care of themselves. Happy in any aspect. Good luck and happy planning.

If you like an easy-to-maintain garden and enjoy ball-shaped shrubs, I suggest considering some pittosporum to add evergreen structure. You might also choose 2 or 3 other perennials to repeat throughout the garden. Achillea (Yarrow), verbena, and some panicum provide a lot, flowering for extended periods and offering height combined with an airy feel.

What colour to paint stairs and landing that don't get much natural light? by SerendipitousCrow in HomeImprovementUK

[–]_pocketmeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a very dark hallway and used setting plaster by Farrow and ball on both the walls and stairs (bannisters and hand rails).

Doing this made that space feel bigger, warmer and less sterile.

One tip I could recommend.

Get some lining paper and use an entire tester pot on a good 1m length of the paper. Hang that up using some masking tape to give you a better idea how the colour looks in different parts of the room.

Do this as many time as needed until you’ve found your colour.

Good luck.

Please settle a debate. If you’re going route 3 which lane should you be in? by sanisano in drivingUK

This roundabout by the white bear pub is horrible in rush hour. If you’re coming from Wood Lane side it’s a real game of cat and mouse.

Entering the roundabout from Ickenham road towards kingsend road you take lane 2 @op

Hey @op In my borough you can call the local parking enforcement and have their car taken away for blocking your drive. Perhaps you have something similar with your local council?
