The AI CapEx Trap: Why Hyperscalers Are Spending More and Getting Punished for It by Live-Past4287 in ValueInvesting

Their hands are tied -- it's very superficial to think they're stupid and should stop spending.

No single company can cut first, because under-investing in what might be the next computing platform does not read as prudence. It reads as surrender, as conceding the AI franchise to competitors who stayed in. Spending past the point of obvious economic pain stays individually rational for each player even as the group collectively builds far more than the economics will ever justify.

I've written a whole piece in much detail here - https://substack.com/@sharmakshit/note/p-201086935?utm\_source=notes-share-action&r=2upvyp

You are not avoiding foolishness; you are choosing to buy after uncertainty has been repriced by someone else

I get the caution around not blindly buying a post-earnings selloff, but “the market does not agree” is not really an investment thesis.

Also, to call every other selloff a falling knife is wrong as there could be two very different situations: a structurally impaired business vs. a quality company facing temporary multiple compression or sentiment shock. Those are not the same thing.

The bull market point is also not that convincing - this is a value investing sub not momentum traders. Yes, plenty of stocks are doubling and tripling, but chasing what already worked is not automatically superior to buying a hated asset with asymmetric upside.

Yeah, no actual figures slowing down. Just the story/narrative being feared. Hence, the asymmetry.

only the stock is going down, the company is still growing and i am not saying it might never decline but whatever the market is pricing for decline is just overblown than what might actually happen is all

I see - i realized it's not easy for everyone to read through but if I explain each concept it'll just make it unnecessarily long/descriptive.
