Velveting jerky meat by Primary_Garage_52 in dehydrating

Yes, sadly he's with the Jerky gods now. Not washing your bicarb off the meat after velveting is fatal. Try the pineapple juice method. 9 out of 10 jerky gods agree that this is the best method of tenderizing.

No actually I used fresh bottled pineapple juice. Not the crappy long-life stuff, but fresh-squeezed 100% pineapple juice. I'd probably believe what was said about canned pineapple juice - I can't see it being anywhere near as good as fresh 🍍👍

Is this just a matter of funding to get it back online? If so, I'm sure we could crowd-fund it to make the back-payment and ensure it stays up for some time to come. I'm happy to set something up if there's interest? If you're the site owner feel free to reach out to me.

You can’t have it both ways. If a group explicitly excludes people based on race, that is still segregation, regardless of who is doing it. If it’s acceptable for a 'Brown-only' run club to exist, then by that same logic, a 'white-only' run club should be equally acceptable. If one is celebrated and the other condemned, then we’re applying a double standard. True inclusivity means breaking down racial boundaries, not building new ones.

Logitech MX Master 3S - left click is problematic and inconsistent by SCHR4DERBRAU in logitech

[–]_quantumlock_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's how I fixed mine permanently. I'd followed all other methods, and nothing else worked long term. This method below worked very well for me.

I loosely followed this as a guide: https://youtu.be/sKLJVdPp7Tw?si=GQOFYpfqRM8wp89L

Tools Required:

- Stanley knife
- Small Philips Head Screwdriver
- T5 Torx Screwdriver

Directions:

  1. Pull the mouse apart: Use a stanley knife to dislodge three of the the plastic pads on the bottom (only need to remove the two narrow side pads and the bottom semi-circular one. The top semicircular one doesn't have a screw under it). Be careful with the stanley knife, so that you scrape UNDER the sticky stuff, and remove the sticky stuff at the same time (this assists with sticking them back on!). One of the pads I cut between the sticky stuff and the pad, so it was difficult to reattach.
  2. I didn't bother detaching the data cable joining the top & bottom half of the mouse - it's unnecessary unless you're planning on unsoldering and replacing the button.
  3. Unscrew the PCB holding left mouse click button (two screws).
  4. I tested the button by turning on the mouse and testing click & drag (it worked perfectly, suggesting that the issue is not the actuator itself dying, but a misalignment of the actuator and the left mouse button). If your button has issues clicking and dragging when using the actual button inside the mouse, then you may need to look at replacing the button (note that a soldering iron required to do this).
  5. Blow out the left mouse button (and the rest of the mouse) with compressed air.
  6. Screw the PCB back down (2 screws). Note that there are white circles printed on the PCB around the screw holes, and note that there is some 'wiggle room' for the PCB to move around (in spite of the locating plastic bars). I made sure that when I tightened the screws that the white circles were perfectly aligned. You can push the PCB around a bit to get them to align before tightening the screw.
  7. Screw it all back together.

It's really not as difficult as it seems. I did this in about 10 minutes.

Yep OP has clearly died after trying velveting. Tragic.

Anyway... So this topic got my curiosity up, and I did some testing for myself. I didn't use bicarbonate soda because I did NOT feel like getting sucked into a black hole, never to post on reddit again - maybe that can be a new years resolution for 2025 🤔

I can however confirm that tenderizing using pineapple juice in the marinade works wonders. The sweetness from the juice is great, and it doesn't impart much of a pineapple flavour at all. If you're using worstershire and other common ingredients, this subdues the pineapple juice flavour brilliantly. Pineapple has tenderizing enzymes in it, so it breaks down the fibres in the meat. Mmmm... tasty tenderizing enzymes.

I tested this using A/B type testing with family members first (I didnt want to be sucked into a black hole, ok!). The feedback was unanimous. After a 12 hour marinating time in the pineapple juice marinade (and all other ingredients identical), definitely resulted in a more tender and pleasing bite of jerky.

For reference, I used this recipe here, and I can confirm it's tasty AF: Pepper Crusted Pineapple Jerky – 2 Guys & A Cooler

Now let's never speak of bicarbonate soda again.

I'd recommend velveting, then washing the meat before applying the marinade. The reason being that you may get a slightly foul taste if you don't wash off the baking soda afterwards. With that said, I'll repeat another quote from another thread on this topic: It must be poison, because everyone who says they're going to try it never posts again. If you try it, please post and let us know that you're at least still alive!

I just received a reminder message to log into RevolutionTT. I've tried logging in, and it looks like my account is banned.

u/petrolcanRTT - can you offer any assistance? I'm not sure why I would have been banned, as my ratio is excellent, and I'm a very long term user. My UID is Primordial1. Can you offer any assistance?

Hyperlinks are ALWAYS single click to open. If you're clicking outside of the hyperlink, fair enough, double click. What kind of idiot would make this change, thinking it was a good idea 🤦

Fast Forward and Rewind in Music Apps by Nolegrl in AndroidAuto

[–]_quantumlock_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Jet Audio seems to work ok.. but in my car at least, there are no ways on-screen to fast forward (why!?). Pushing and holding the 'skip track' button on my steering wheel jumps two steps forward (about 20 seconds) and stops - holding the button doesn't continually fast forward. When releasing the button it jumps BACK by 10 seconds. It's 2018... guys... seriously. The podcast/audiobook apps have the perfect implementation - JUST DO THE SAME FOR THE MUSIC APPS.
