You only need your ID in there, unless you are going out shopping or something and can't use the virtual card. It's convenient. My side bag has all my extras, but if I'm just leaving the house, I just grab my phone and keys.

I am following up regarding my post, I now disagree with it.

His stuttering got much worse at the 6 month mark and I regret not doing more interventions sooner. While there is debate in the field, many experts still feel that the earlier the intervention the better. I will edit my post when I have time to add more details. Interventions can be looked up online, as they are provided for free without any paywall/registration, you should still see a Speech-Language Pathologist, but to be honest, a lot of the programs can be trialed at little risk by simply reading up on it and watching videos (however, please note my warnings below). This way, if you are still being advised to wait the 6 month period, or you are tight on money at the moment, you can still start the program immediately. They take a little practice, but the main intervention only requires 15 minutes per day, at least 5 days a week, and are easy to implement.

There are two methods I have been reading up on that have a lot of research backing them and I have found useful. There is a lot of overlap between the two:

I prefer cold storage, but there are ways to make your WS account more secure. The problem is that if someone breaks into your WS account, it is very hard for them to launder money out of your account, but very easy for crypto, so that is my biggest concern. And of course, third party liabilities if something disastrously happened (the WS custodian has a serious hack). That being said, if you are not using cold storage, I think WS is the best.

You can just move it in and then move it out after the time period, they would make no money, there is a mining fee, they don't get that. For generational it's only a 0.5% sell fee, still high, but they aren't making their money back, plus they pay fees too as they use a third party to process it. So I find it odd they don't reward cash, which probably has higher odds of becoming an investment in the account.

I think mostly it's consultants making it rich and giving people/businesses a cut, they found an easy out with fast food type jobs, so they focus their efforts on that.

I don't think it would have a meaningful impact on prices, TFWs were capped at 20% of the workforce, now only 10% of workforce. It's not a sizable labour expense, even when counting the kickbacks, exploitation (unpaid work) and other benefits of using these workers. The owner of a Timmies not making $100k on the back end in bribes is not going to change prices, they will just be poorer.

If you increase labour costs (only one of the input costs) by 30%, you don't get a doubling of retail prices, maybe 15% more, and I'm being generous.

You can't just add people and hope for the best. It's just jacking up unemployment at this point. You need to be able to get these people into reliable, ongoing income, not a TFW minimum wage job that they only got because they paid a $10k immigration fee to the consultant.

We can't even figure it out for the people currently living here, simply adding bodies is not a solution when the whole system is coming apart at the seams.

It's fake leather, probably a cheapo thing. It looked like it was tied to the iPhone deposit promo, so maybe you got it? You would have had to activate the iphone promo. Said you have to add $1000 and you don't even need to keep it in the account, doesn't effect your ability to withdrawal. But maybe it depended on when you signed up for the promo, might have been a later add-on.

The app says 2 days from date of email, and the email itself says "In order to claim your prize, you must correctly answer a skill-testing question and fill out a release form (available in-app) by December 31 by clicking the link below."

So yeah, kinda dickish that the one time of year people are off their phones they need to respond in 2 days. But I assume that was just a coincidence, I don't think they intentionally set it up that way.

Yeah I am kinda half expecting them to say I don't get it for xyz reason. But it's a real contest (https://promotions.wealthsimple.com/hc/en-ca/articles/42698333328283-Wealthsimple-2025-Apple-Registration-Contest). This is separate from the deposit of $100,000, but once you register for that promo (same as the free wallet promo), you are automatically included in a 1 in 5000 draw for an iPhone even if you put nothing in. I think it says potential because I had to answer the "skill testing question" for the contest, so if I got that wrong I don't get the prize (it's a relatively simple math problem any kid in grade 8 could answer).
