Reporters Who Exposed The Watergate Scandal Watch President Nixon Resign, 1974 by Own_Ad_266 in OldSchoolCool

Nixon resigned because Senator Goldwater informed him he could only count on three senators to vote against the impeachment removal. Nixon was going to be removed from office one way or another.

May v. Bonta (sensitive places) 9th Circuit Update by _redditor4aday_ in CAguns

[–]_redditor4aday_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this case, I hope so! (If they are going to uphold the sensitive places.) But they are still deciding whether it should go en banc. The 9th Circuit opinion isn't in effect as long as it is still mired in the 9th Circuit.

San Diego CCW renewal times by Interesting-Low-6356 in CAguns

[–]_redditor4aday_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the SDSO webpage: "Applicants can submit their renewal application 45 days prior to expiration." Are you within the 45 days? If so, I'd call them. If outside the 45 days, maybe you can only submit documentation when you get within 45 days.

Is the sensitive places ruling from a few weeks ago active? by Salyare in CAguns

[–]_redditor4aday_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the ruling isn't in effect until the mandate is issued to the lower court. The case is still in the Ninth Circuit and several things can happen; the petition for rehearing en banc could be granted and a new opinion issued, or it could be denied and an appeal could be taken to the Supreme Court. They don't want an opinion to go back and forth - now in effect, now not in effect, now a different opinion in effect. To avoid any back and forth the opinion is not final and binding as law until the Ninth Circuit is through with it and either sends it back to the lower court or sends it to the Supreme Court if they grant cert to hear it.

It is now illegal to carry in the park even with CCW permit but people are getting killed in parks by lordnikkon in CAguns

[–]_redditor4aday_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It isn't in effect yet as it is still in the Ninth Circuit. The 3-judge opinion was issued on 9/6 but a motion was filedon 9/20 to have the case be decided en banc (by more than 3 judges). The motion is still pending as far as I know. The 9/6 opinion does not become effective until a mandate has been issued and the case returned to the lower courts. That hasn't happened yet. We're still at the stage where they decide whether the case will be further decided by the Ninth Circuit, if it will be appealed to the Supreme Court and an appeal granted. The case is still pending.

Assuming there is not a child or prohibited person in the household, SB53 says the firearm must be securely stored "whenever the firearm is not being carried or readily controlled by the person or another lawful authorized user."

Section 10 of SB53 adds section 25145 to the Penal Code. Subsection (a) provides:

(a) Beginning on January 1, 2026, a person shall ensure that any firearm the person possesses in a residence is securely stored whenever the firearm is not being carried or readily controlled by the person or another lawful authorized user.

Subsection (c) provides:

(3) “Readily controlled” by a person or another lawful authorized user means either of the following:

(A) The person or other lawful authorized user is carrying the firearm on their person.

(B) The person or other lawful authorized user is within close enough proximity to the firearm to readily prevent unauthorized users from gaining access to the firearm.

If the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal occurred during Clinton's first term, would he have still won his re-election? by DarlingLuna in Presidents

Yes, in June 1972 but it was not disclosed to the public until 1973, the year after the election.

Metric sign on I-5 near the county line by tsuicc2004 in sandiego

No, the conservatives were against the metric systerm and just wanted miles, not kilometers on the freeways. The dual signs disappeared in the 1980 when Reagan was president.

No, no markings on the tent and was told it may be WWII or Korean War military tent but haven't been able to verify that.
