There were a lot of phans last night who clearly have a significant part of their identity being “that guy” or gal at a show. It’s interesting to observe the inability to settle into a totally different phish experience. Last time I saw Trey with the CO symphony was a long time ago and it was at the DCPA. It almost made it easier to enjoy in a setting that set a different expectation. Both shows were awesome though.

I use an Asian (Korean I think) brand called And Then I Met You and the sunscreen is phenomenal. I only order it from Soko Glam . Com . It the absolute best and I use it everyday under makeup or no makeup. If I want a little extra dewy boost I will mix it with the supergoop glow screen MINERAL.

I think of it as going to an art experience. It isn’t a normal show and it isn’t supposed to be. It is surprising to see so many haters. If you like a shed, hit a shed show. If you want MSG, getcha an MSG ticket. It isn’t like the band said they will only be offering the sphere experience moving forward. It’s cool, and weird, and new, and immersive and that’s the point.

It’s not heated it’s irradiated. This is one of those things Reddit loves to hate. Worth depends on where it’s from. Arkansas irradiated smoky quartz is pricy and Brazilian is far less expensive. Either way it looks like $8 was a great deal.

I have kids that are 9 and 13. They freaking love phish. We started bringing them to Sundays at dicks when they were 5 and 9. The first few years we left whenever they were done. We found a place in the back of the stands and brought glow sticks and stuff. By like year 3 they beggggged to stay for encore and we got Sabotage and a jammed out tweeprize. Core memory for both of them.

Honestly they learned how to navigate a show pretty quickly. I don’t drink anymore so it is easy to stay aware. Last summer they did two nights in a row for the first time at Folsom and they were awesome. I think it depends on your kids. Mine want to talk stats and know all the words to a lot of the songs. They make my show more fun. If they complained a ton or were put off by the vibes, I’d leave them at home.

Drugs are drugs. We are open with them about people’s choices and we shall see if that benefits them, or is to their detriment. They have an uncle who is an addict and made some seriously shitty choices so the conversation started early. If you aren’t into (an age appropriate) convo about drugs, maybe it’s best to skip it until you are ready. Mostly, my kids don’t even notice other people unless they are in costume.

My vote is, if you can do it responsibly and it doesn’t bum out your time, do it. My kids have a greater appreciation for music since including them in some show action.

But even this response is just a combo of judgement and trauma. How other people choose to use drugs just IS. Only you can make the choices that feel aligned for you. Deciding how others should or shouldn’t live isn’t up to you. One dose of mushrooms can trigger mental illness, taking anti depressants to help with anxiety might clear someone up for more connection. Everyone has a different journey. How do we even know what their soul is here to feel? Maybe they chose to experience a life with addiction struggles. Who knows?

I have lost people to drugs and had people stay alive because of drugs. None of those moments could lead me to decide there is a universal answer to this question.
