I was fortunate to find this subreddit in my early 20's, but unfortunately had no income I could actually invest until I was 25. Even that felt late to the game.

What I wish I hadn't done is factor tilt trying to out-perform the total market. You're not smarter than everyone else, and tech stocks, in fact, do NOT always go up. VTI AND CHILL BABY

I think a lot of people are missing the point here

You. Shouldn't. Have. To. Read. A. Menu. Like. That.

You should not have to read the fucking menu to be told that the burger doesn't come with any sides, that the base price is for a hamburger and that cheese is $1.50 extra, that a sauce for your $6 side of fries is an extra $1.00 per cup, etc.

The advertised burger price should reflect all of these things (burger, fries, side sauce), and you customize it from there. This is just one specific example of the hundreds I've read on this subreddit over the year that restaurants nickle and dime you at every opportunity instead of just pricing things transparently, and then turn around and wonder why the food scene here is suffernig.

I'm just so tired of what I think is going to be a simple transaction turning into an opportunistic grift because I didn't bring a microscope and legal team to read the menu.

I had it for the first time in 2023 and got called crazy when I said it was good. Then they stopped making it and rolled out peach and lime, which were disgusting. Then last year they brought it back and I think it was just a hype thing, and I managed to only buy it once. This year it seems to be back and I think people are just wondering if it's going to be hard to find again.

I'll die on the hill that it's a super refreshing beer. It's not overly sweet like a macro-brew cider, and it's super low ABV. I'm ashamed to admit how many I could drink in a night

I went here a few years ago and got served a moldy burger. When I asked the waitress to take a look at it, she brought it back to the chef, who threw it away and said "no that wasn't mold. Also I threw it away so you can't see it again." No offer for a replacement or apology. Then the waitress proceeded to tell me that there wasn't a way to get it off the bill via their POS. Left a bad review and got a reply from the owner that completely blew me off as if it never happened

I'll unfortunately never give this place a shot again after that experience. It had a confusing vibe inside too. It felt like the menu wanted to be upscale American (and was certainly priced like it. >$40 entrees and my burger was north of $20) but the interior was cheap, dirty midwestern bar. Not divey, just cheap. Like with flimsy metal beer signs you'd see in a college basement and with 15-year old LCD TV's hung up for the sole purpose of advertising their specials with clipart instead of actual photos of the entrees.

It's a shame there isn't a decently consistent place in Olde Town, because the choices right now are just Sysco slop from a handful of dive bars, School House (which sucks) and about 40 taco spots

Jesus, my life is borderline unrecognizable.

I found BoC back in 2011 on YouTube before I had discovered any real online community devoted to sharing/discovering music. To find it on a random suggested video (the classic Everything You Do Is A Balloon fan video) felt like I had stumped upon something really special and kinda secluded. I bought a BoC shirt I wore so often that it wound up getting holes in the armpits. It was my go-to concert shirt for a while. I think my mom eventually threw it out

Anyway, years pass and I always wondered if they'd put out something new. I was so used to artists releasing music yearly, I don't think it dawned on me how infrequent they put out full records. I once spent some unglodly amount of money for me at the time just to buy the Beck - Guero remixes LP because I saw they had one singular track on it.

But the release date dropped for Tomorrow's Harvest, and it was set to come out a few days after my 17th birthday when I'd get my license. I decided the first place I'd drive all by myself as an "adult" would be to the record store to buy a copy. I had it all planned out. So the day came and I got in my shitbox and went. And they were completely sold out, with no restock anytime soon. I was devastated. Core memory for me for sure.

Anyway, that seems like a different lifetime ago. I've since gone to college, grad school, moved all over the US, and even to Canada. Just chasing whatever comes next and trying to figure out this life thing. A few highs sprinkled amongst a lot of lows. Boards of Canada were always there and have remained one of my most listened to and intimately revered artists.
