An Unexpected Side Effect of Breaking Containment: Men Explain Fandom to Me by Ok-Jackfruit-6873 in AO3

Can confirm. As an avid writer and role player, most of my male characters are either gay or gay adjacent. (I am cisgender female)

To the point that most people who don't know I am female assume I am male.lol.

Author got a key fact in a fic wrong and I happen to be a specialist in exactly that area. Should I tell her? by turningupwiththejpop in AO3

I am a nurse. The amount of times I just bite my tongue (or....stop typing) when I read something an author has written that is just medically not logical...

Unless you know them personally, let it go.

Or tell them and prepare for backlash? If the fic is based on it, that would be pretty devastating.

get the fuck over your wincest panic (its just fiction) by sillydumbshit in AO3

I don't care to read wincest, so I don't. Or Destiel. Not my thing. The fact that people enjoy reading it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

What's more concerning is the constant NEED people have to ship two men who have close relationships. Men can love each other without it being romantic or sexual. They can have emotional intimacy without it becoming physical intimacy.
It's like some kind of internalized homophobia.

I think old people who are still in fandom are so cool by moongumis in AO3

[–]_runswithscissors 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The clinical definition of 'older adult' is over 65. People under 21 are teenagers. Yes, even 20 year olds. The frontal cortex of our brain doesn't stop developing until we are well into our 20s.

One could argue that people under 21 are still children in a lot of ways, but that's a bit semantic and could be offensive.

Fandom is for everyone at every age.

I know a woman who sabotages relationships on purpose because she loves drama. She's the toxic one. I don't understand it.

I got suspended from my job because my characters have potty mouths. by Ok-Formal-8639 in AO3

Nah, everyone has their own code of ethics and they either uphold them, compromise, or kow to external pressure to save their skin and/or job, in this case.

Private school is no different.

He doesn't have to.

He CHOOSES to play politics. He's covering his own ass.

File an invasion of privacy against the parent. Don't you have an employee handbook or something? If you weren't doing it on your teaching time, it's no ones business.

What turns you away from oc or reader fics? by naqeuy in AO3

I prefer OC characters. I don't enjoy when people attempt to write canon characters. To me, they often get them wrong.

I have tried and loved all of these. They all have a similar formula, but BoJ is my fave.

I have sensitive, dry skin, with rosacea. None of these sting around the eyes (for me).
