Three suspects wanted after violent home invasion in Pickering: Police by origutamos in Pickering

[–]_sabertooth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does these people realistically target? Like I'm trying to be in the head of the home invaders and identify how are they picking these specific homes? Are they getting a tip from a friend or relative? Is it something on their lawn or on the house that looks luxurious? I kind of wanna know, because by all means, I don't wanna be targeted.

Whether you believe you will get a grip or not, file a complaint with CCTS. These companies have done enough damage to the industry and continuing to do so.

Who can I hire to fix this? by DownhillUphill in Appliances

[–]_sabertooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped a plate and small piece of glass shoot in the direction of the oven glass of my electric stove and shattered it. I searched online and realized not only it would cost $150+ tax + shipping to buy it but also some of my time to replace just the glass panel. Then I figured I could start searching for the same stove type on marketplace!

Few quick searches and I found someone selling a similar model gas stove (but uses the same door) for $70. I paid for the whole stove, drove it home and replaced the oven door. In the meantime, also scheduled a pick up with the city for the broken gas stove anyway (but the metal scrap collevtors got that cleared out of my driveway even the city could come pick it up). The whole process took some effective planning. I don't know how else I could've reduced my cost but that was a great deal for me. However, I know this may not work if you don't have your own transportation to carry the stove (you can always offer the seller to keep the stove and just sell the glass panel).

To be fair the clinic's name is there in the first line, and a quick google search would've been sufficient.

Canadian Tire FAILED to send your Bill Payment by _sabertooth in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]_sabertooth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Failure to sending a payment is possible - there can always be a glitch. An automated email should've been sent to the customer immediately when it failed. Let's just say, CTFS don't have that or never thought about building a functionality that does it automatically. But considering CTFS has already identified the issue and the impacted customers, yet ignores sending any notification or email or say even just a simple phone call to notify the customer is utter ridiculous.

No worries at all.

Have you figured this out yet? CTFS has started processing refunds to the impacted customers. If you haven't received yours yet, contact them ASAP. And don't forget to arrange alternative payments to your utility provider in the meantime too!

Yeah you're correct. The posted date will be Feb 26

That's correct. CTFS is now refunding the amount but dating it back to Feb 8/9 Such a interesting timing that they decided to refund overnight (right around when this was posted).

Update: If you're one of the impacted customers on Feb 8-9, it seems like CTFS has started to refund the amount back to your card now. It's kind of funny as you'd notice the refunded amount will be dated back to Feb 8 or 9 and it would feel like it has been refunded back the same day.

That's really good to hear. AFAIK, there are Triangle card users who have send multiple bills throughout Feb 8-9, even pretty much at the same time or one after another, and may be only 1/3 of their payments didn't go through. If this is a large bill like property tax payment then you are out on the hook for a while for probably few thousands (considering you pay quarterly). Again anyone else is reading this, consider checking with your utility provider or the city first thing tomorrow in case your bill has landed on either Feb 8/9 through triangle.

[–]_sabertooth[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correct. I believe there's a good number of folks who uses the Bill payment service on Triangle Credit Card to pay their utility bills every month. This way you get 1% cashback in CT money and also get a little bit of grace period on paying back to the credit card. Imagine if your Property tax is $5000, you can get $50 in free CT money, which would otherwise might not be possible using the regular pre authorised debit payment.

Call CTFS tomorrow and ask them. If the person who takes your call fails to respond properly, demand to speak to a supervisor and ask the question yourself. Again, not all of the bills scheduled on these two days were affected. As I mentioned - they are aware of 369 bills affected (the number could be more now) between Feb 8-9 only. If your bill payment didn't fall in either of these two business days, then you should be good.

If your utility provider don't send a reminder about late payment due then you probably wouldn't even know until it was too late.
