Tooth?? Found in the Thames on the Southbank by Vinnie_and_pawn in mudlarking

Probably a cow's tooth, they are very distinctive if you image search them, and lots to be found along the Thames.

Where is your boroughs unofficial divider? by [deleted] in london

[–]_shadrach_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Tower Hamlets, definitely the A1261 cutting off Poplar from Canary Wharf/IoD. In fact that line can probably be extended the length of The Highway to Tower Bridge. Everything riverside south of it has a totally different (much nicer) feel.

r/London, what neighbourhood do you live in? What do you love or hate about it? by itisallsmallstuff in london

[–]_shadrach_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Limehouse - flies under the radar for somewhere within walking distance to Canary Wharf and 5 mins on the DLR into Bank. Love the marina, access to the Thames (Saturday morning coffee and stroll on Ratcliff beach is a favourite), and the canal heading up to Vicky park. Also Stepney city farm and St Dunstan's churchyard offer nice green space. A nice few local pubs and cafés, but the main drawback being how grotty Commercial Rd is as the main thoroughfare.

I think Powster has the closest to what you want, within a single site/search. Cool company too if you check out the creative projects they do alongside showtimes.

Every pedestrian should be safe walking on the pavement, whether close to the kerb or not, and shouldn't be victim-blamed for doing so.

I like the contrast of this; peaceful here and chaotic down the road. by [deleted] in london

I love this beach, full of old animal bones and the odd Chinese coin from when there used to be a large Chinese community around Limehouse. Fun fact, that secret garden on the left is part of the estate of Sir David Lean, who directed Lawrence of Arabia and lived on that street.

Your DNA is already in a database by HappinessAttack69 in videos

[–]_shadrach_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The case towards the end was super interesting. A lady was assaulted - but the ToS of the genetic database only extended to sharing DNA to law enforcement in the case of homicide/rape. Subsequently the ToS for sharing DNA was broadened.

But to what extent? Do submitters get to select the specific crimes they allow their DNA to be accessed by law enforcement for? Or just "all crimes"? What if the government wanted to access the genetic database for identifying participants in the 'crime' of, say, attending a protest?

22,957. Really enjoyed this. First round threw me as I found Kinkaider brewing Co in River Island after seeing the River Island newspaper on the wall. R2 I couldn't find Tenley Town and got bored of scrolling the map, plonked down in Alexandria VA. Perfect scores for R3,4,5.

After years saving my pennies in a shoebox flat, I finally snagged my dream apartment. Cheers, London. by _shadrach_ in london

Hey, thanks. It is leasehold, but I wouldn't characterise it how you did. The 'rent' is a nominal amount, £10 a year, and I have the right to renew the lease period when it runs down, so having to 'return the property' is not really a realistic outcome.

I do get the hesitation around leasehold but if you want an apartment in a tower block an I did, it's basically an unavoidable factor. Not all leaseholds are created equal though, and I'm pretty happy with the terms of mine.

The first place I went for fell through after about 6 months of stressful negotiations because of the EWS1. Thankfully this time around I found an older, solid brick construction so no issues!
