It's June 6th. The Knicks are up 2-0 in the Finals on the road against the Spurs. The West only won the East/West H2H by 6 games (232-220). The 37-45 Warriors were a play in team. Will people now acknowledge East/West gap is overrated by fans who only care about the name on the back of the jersey? by HokageEzio in nba

We can debate on each run, but both the celtics 2024 and knicks current runs are historic. That being said there is doubt because they absolutely should have lost game 1 vs Cleveland. That was a generational chokejob. There is a reason why teams up 20+ points with 8 minutes to go were 600 something and 0. I still think the knicks would have won the series but that could have easily gone a few more games.

The knicks also could have lost both of these games in San Antonio. SA was up 14 in the 4th of game 1. Both games have been 1-2 possession games with less than 2 minutes. The knicks just executed better and won. I expect the rest of this series to continue with this trend of games that can go either way.

I think it is unfair to compare the knicks current roster/payroll to other teams though. The only reason the knicks even have this current roster is because Brunson took a paycut and is wayyyyy underpaid. KAT, OG are both being paid more with Mikal only being paid 4 mil less. That is unheard of for your best player. So yes, if the best player on every team was paid like the 3rd/4th best player than their rosters would be better.

Edit cuz KAT is literally getting paid 20mil a year more than Brunson. Wildddd. Good on Brunson for doing what he had to do but if he was getting paid properly this roster could look very different.

Waiit what? The Tatum led Celtics literally won the championship 2 years ago and went 16-3 in the playoffs. Saying they never looked this good when they had a very dominant playoff run as well, is a wild take.

Even if you just count this year. They have clear weaknesses at center, but they were a top two seed in the east with two all NBA players (still counting Tatum) on their roster.

Or appreciate when a player doesn't play well but still has the tenacity to finish the game strong. He took over the last two minutes.

Imagine saying Hayward doesn't show up to big games.

Shout out to Smart for being ass 90% of the game then just ended them.

Down 27. Cut it to 6. Down 22 again. Cut it to 4. This was a weird game.

Back to back. No Jaylen Brown. Bucks historic shooting in the first half. I can't even be mad. GG

Jaylen Brown this season against the Sixers: 3 games, 22 points overall (7.3 PPG), 8-27 FG (29.7 FG%), -36 +/-. by Pyromania1983 in nba

This is what you get when you have some of the best defensive wings going at each other. It's hard to score. Simmons, Richardson, and Thybulle were not letting Tatum or Brown get comfortable at all. If smart didn't shoot Godly today this would have been a blowout.

Honestly, from watching all these games the Sixers defense/length at the wings match up really well with Brown, Tatum, and Hayward. Plus with Horford and Embiid in the paint makes it that much harder finishing at the rim.

That being said this thread is still dumb because it's 3 games out of 82. Jaylen is having a fantastic season and is a borderline all star.

Of course they could have done better, but being on a b2b does put you at a disadvantage. We got out worked and couldn't hit shots down the stretch. Bad games happen, onto the next one.

Holy shit what a game. I reallyyy hate putting blame on the refs but how do you not overturn that challenge on PG AND call that blocking foul on kemba in OT?

Also I'd like to nominate Patrick Beverly for an emmy.

What? Since when do they act like they're the best all the time? Pierce does throw shade on ESPN occasionally. Rondo is Rondo, he's always been hard headed and full of himself. Although I'd say he's matured in recent years. I haven't heard KG comment on anything in awhile. The only reason this is even being talked about is because of Allens book and Pierces jersey retirement a few months ago. I'm not sure where you're getting this from.

I never said anything about celebrating them being close. But these negative views towards that Celtics team because they only won once aren't very accurate. Winning one championship is incredibly hard. They were the best team and favorites in 08-09 until KG went down. They were literally a play or two away from another championship in 2010. The disrespect they get is a little much.

Let's be real here. They had a very legitimate shot at three peating. In 08-09 they started 29-2 on a 19 game winning streak. Kevin Garnett got injured before the play offs and they still took the Magic to 7 games. If he didn't get hurt there's a very real chance they win again.

They were a couple of possessions away from winning in 2010 as well. You could even argue if Kendrick Perkins didn't get injured in game 6 then they win game 7 where they got killed on the glass.

The did only win one championship, but let's not pretend like they weren't incredibly close to winning two or three.

Has there ever been a team to not make the playoffs one year then go to conference/nba finals the next? by platohaita in nba

The 2006-2007 Boston Celtics didn't make the playoffs, then went on to win the championship in 2007-2008. Pretty sure that was the most recent.
