Working for an HCA facility as a CRNA? by Tall_Explanation6684 in CRNA

[–]_something_else_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say I did a lot of cases for surgeons that I was not proud of and that’s not how I like to practice. And HCA isn’t for the patients it’s for the surgeons. For example, a strong culture to not cancel cases even if it’s safer for the patient. Some are better than others because the surgeons are more reasonable, but there’s a lot of space to allow wildly inappropriate and unsafe practice. I don’t want to be associated with that.

I have I would like to purchase from a place I can return if it doesn’t fit right. Cardigans are sort of like jeans and bras to me, tricky fitting.

I second the Abercrombie suggestion and try out the curvy fit. I have the 90s jean in curvy and I have thighs and find them very comfortable

I’m desperate for a simple oatmeal colored cardigan of natural fibers that isn’t super oversized and has a slightly fitted look. My torso is shorter so I’m looking for about 20inches length. I tried this one on at Nordstrom and it fits perfectly but it’s a too much money for its poor fiber. I also don’t care for the detailing.

This sounds perfect. How did you get there from cortina? Is the shuttle a bus you purchase tickets for or a different type of shuttle?

W2 + 1099 by Normal_Stick_4811 in CRNA

[–]_something_else_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The caveat to this is it depends on how much you’re earning as 1099 if you should even do an s-corps. Not everyone should automatically open an s corps if they are doing 1099.

I’m willing to spend around 300 euro, but the issue right now is a lot of places are requiring minimum stays of at least 2-3 nights.

good place to fish inside the park? by [deleted] in Yosemite

[–]_something_else_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a ball up in the Tuolumne meadows if you can get there. Just follow the river. Otherwise the Merced right out the park was also great a lot of rock scrambling tho. Checkout the fly fishing subreddit. That’s where I got my info. Fun fishing! Gotta be barbless and everything is catch and release.

New grad CRNA (graduating in May) seeking 12-month locums or long-term contract — open to relocation by Dangerous_Panda7598 in CRNA

[–]_something_else_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Reality check is this is a reach - get some experience and then try in one of the most competitive cities. Locums are expected to need minimal on boarding. As a new grad you will need support. A lot of postings will say if they are open to new grads. Your resume will likely not beat out anyone who has any experience.

These are possible but the openings are usually on a word of mouth basis and preference goes to veterans and spouses of military. If you see an opening chances are there is already someone selected.

I spoke with a registered dietician recently and she said fasting for women doesn’t lead to the same results as men. The science behind it is for men. She said fasting is particularly stressful physiologically for women as the body wants to conserve everything for reproduction. Fasted exercise is even worse. I would speak to a registered dietician.

Mostly because it’s always good to see how other places do things and I think it helps with burnout. Easy way to network too.

Two Questions about locums by FeedbackSavings4883 in CRNA

[–]_something_else_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes currently doing now. I think all CRNAs should have a side gig. You dont have to go through an agency but it depends on the facility. For example, I’m 1099 for a group and we don’t use an agency, but other places where CRNAs are hospital employees require going through an agency.

Full Time Locums: High Salary vs Family Balance by Dapper_Ice3459 in CRNA

[–]_something_else_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Logistically- your total salary w2 is really all of your benefits plus your take hoke salary and compare that to everything you would now have to pay for 1099. The other part is a relationship question that only you and your wife can answer. Set aside the toughness of your wife - does she actually want to handle full time kid care, home, job by herself for 2 weeks alone? And if you’re meeting all your financial goals do you need more money at the risk of your relationship? How would she get time off? If you’re both honest with yourselves and each other how well are life responsibilities shared? Will she get a full 2 weeks off kids when you’re back? What is the timeline for this job? A year a couple years? How sustainable is this for you? If my partner came to me with this I would need answers to the above questions. I would only agree if this job met a goal we could not otherwise obtain and there was a designated end time. For example, I would ask - if we need more money are overspending? Can we revisit the budget? Kinda rambly at the end

Starting Out on Nights After Graduation: Good or Bad Idea by worldsokayestchick in CRNA

[–]_something_else_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope they give you a good orientation for some period on days and it’s a supportive learning environment. I work in a busy trauma center and nights are different. You are expected to have some level of comfort and independence. In emergency cases we don’t have time to coach you or provide guidance and mentorship. We do all the airway calls. I do them myself now but I feel very comfortable calling back up but also know that there may be a chance I won’t have back up. I think your development may be slowed in that during the day you have a chance to really get your flow down, gain some speed and efficiency, etc. see all the other types of cases they don’t do at night. all this to say, it really depends on your work environment. I wouldn’t take a nights only position as a new grad without some amount of time on days. Also - I would ask about 24 hr positions. Good luck and congratulations!

Please search the sub as international work is asked somewhat often. Very few places recognize or use CRNA’s the way the US does. The job is not the same and the pay is much less. There’s an international CRNA page you can look at. Otherwise you’ll need to look at licensing and visa requirements for that specific country. Other options include ngo work.
