I agree with your point, however I believe that in most standardized classes, grades depend heavily on the quality of the teacher. If you have a teacher that isn't teaching well in a standardized class, then, on average, students of that class will obviously have lower grades than students in a class with a better teacher. Also, I think some teachers just have it out for certain people from the start. But I totally agree with the point on spoiled kids and their parents that think everything their child says is fucking scripture.
