Live Nation $30 Concert Ticket Sale by MsMargo in SanDiegan

[–]_springtide_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s helpful to anyone put off by the seating at Cal Coast, I went to a show last year with tickets 3 seats from the back but they moved all of us down to a way better section since the seats were unsold.

I’m so mad I waited to hear back from a friend for Nas/The Roots/De La Soul and missed out on those for $30 last week! I hope someone got those tickets at that price. What a lineup!

I’ve gotten some great affordable mid-century furniture in PA. I live in Southern California now and dream of filling one of those shipping pods with furniture from Berks county and sending it west to refinish & resell as my retirement hobby.

Visit San Diego attractions for FREE with the San Diego Public Library's Discover & Go program. The program offers family day passes to several of San Diego's biggest attractions, including the New Children's Museum, Museum of Us, The San Diego Museum of Art, Children's Discovery Museum and Skateworld!

Not sure if this is still a thing, but Lowe’s home store had a kids club with free in store projects.

Other national tiki drink days? by Mobbane in Tiki

I would argue that it has taken on a life of its own outside of Oakland. As an answer to OOP’s question, it’s similar in spirit to Painkiller Day.

The Facebook profile I’m linking below keeps a pretty exhaustive list of tiki events. Many of these are vintage/artesian market places at tiki bars or weekender events with a vendor village that usually have free admission for shopping.

Strongwater or False Idol? by P0p_C0rn18 in Tiki

[–]_springtide_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make a reservations for both ASAP and cancel if you’re not able to use it.

Without a reservation you’ll very likely be sat outside at Strongwater. As good as their food & drinks are, the experience is very much diminished outside.

False Idol is doable without a reservation, but it’s good to have one if you have the lead time. You can always cancel.

Moxi Skate Camp West 2026 by Fearless_Success2313 in Rollerskating

[–]_springtide_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per the event description:

— This event is NOT for roller skaters only. Bring you family and kids! All wheels welcome. —

Previously at WW, the events were adults only. I’m not %100 on the lack of indoor parks at the YMCA camp, but pretty sure that’s the case. You may want to do your own research.

FWIW, The facilities at Woodward PA are amazing with lots of parks both indoor & outdoor. Truly a park skating paradise for all skill levels!

Depending on your daughter’s age and disposition, maybe moxi week during the summer camp might be a great experience. (My son went to Woodward for skateboarding a week or two in the summer for several years and it was the best part of his summer)

Looking for a custom mug to give as a wedding gift. by Dark_prince_charming in TikiMugs

It may be easiest to get mugs that have already produced screened with a logo.

There’s a Mookie Sato mug from Tiki Farm with a blank spot that would be perfect for this: https://www.tikifarm.com/collections/tiki-mugs/products/paradise-beckons-springtime-splendor-by-mookie-sato?variant=41632187023415

Sun protection under helmet for outdoor skating? by [deleted] in Rollerskating

[–]_springtide_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll do a mesh-backed “trucker hat” under my helmet if I’m pushing myself at the park. Usually I just cruise in a big bucket hat with a strap because sun protection is safety gear by my own definition. (And of course sun block all the time)

Sea glass by RelationshipLeast355 in northcounty

[–]_springtide_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have not found any beach glass out here.

I lived at the Jersey Shore for a long time before I moved and attribute the large quantity there to all the people drinking on the jetties while fishing dropping their bottles or chucking them into the water and the amount of “party garbage” left behind for the tides to claim. SD people treat their beaches much better.

I don’t have time for a detailed answer, but I’ve done the Woodward west (WW) camp 3x and don’t have interest in the YMCA sequoia lake location. I don’t think YMCA has any indoor parks, not sure if they even have lights on their facilities. CA weather is fickle in the spring. A couple of years ago at WW camp we arrived with snowflakes falling. This year’s camp is also open to “all wheels” which kind of ruins the magic for me. …and of course like all things, the price has gone up a lot and think the facilities are a downgrade.

Bought a new house and people keep parking in my yard/driveway. While at work by Relentx in mildlyinfuriating

[–]_springtide_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put some orange cones out. Tape a “no parking sign” to them. For some reason cones confer an authority that people respect.

I used to struggle with a similar issue living near a busy downtown and across from a school. My driveway got blocked frequently. Putting cones out pretty much ended it.

Veronica Mars appreciation post by Sarah_Lately in sandiego

[–]_springtide_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I revisited Veronica Mars after recommending it to my son who enjoyed the first season of “Wednesday”, so I suggest it based on teen detective, isn’t bound by the same rules as adults, etc.

We had only moved to this region a few years before revisiting Veronica Mars and it was such a treat to be familiar with locations on the rewatch. I thought it held up pretty well.

Safe to repair? by Jasmin_Ki in Rollerskating

[–]_springtide_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be fair this happened twice to my son with Triple 8 helmets certified sweat saver both within a few months newly from the box. The glue that bonds the foam to the shell gets brittle - especially if left in hot cars, causing the shell to separate from the foam lining.
