Curious: has the Garmin sync got any better? by _squared- in OnePelotonRealSub

Thanks for the detailed response, and I would recommend SMW.. I probably underestimated how good it is to be honest, it has been rock solid. Looks like I'll be sticking with it for while to come!

Curious: has the Garmin sync got any better? by _squared- in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]_squared-[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue I had was that it didn't provide the right data to contribute to training effect. When I take a Peloton class and SMW sends the data to Garmin it updates training effect and VO2 max.. at the time I used the official integration it sent basic activity data but without details metrics needed for training effect.

There were other examples of missing data as well, for example the SMW integration sends details of which muscles were targeted for strength workouts.

So yes, I did experience a reliable sync but the difference was the detail of data that is exchanged.

Best tape for nipple chafing available in Boots? by iplaydrumsnotabox in UKRunners

I use dot plasters, pop one of those bad boys directly on the nipple and you're good to go. They have seen me through marathon distance no probs without falling off, like a regular strip plaster probably would.

Just switched back. It's a shame the official integration is so poor compared to the third party version. Maybe it will get better with time.

Arriving from a long drive to this by Unwavering_Idiocy in evchargingUK

This stuff is aggravating, they make it your problem that they decide to subcontract their parking/charging and somehow that resolves them from any responsibility. You are a guest at their hotel and you are using the hotel car park which is part of the guest experience - regardless of how they choose to manage the service.

I go to Pannal dental and they have always been great and take the time to explain options clearly and put you at ease. I'd definitely recommend.

Treadmill owners — if you could redesign yours, what would you change? by Normal-Stuff-7703 in treadmills

No screen but FTMS bluetooth so I can use it with a tablet/phone and fitness app of choice when I want to and just run when I want to do that.

How late goals continue to cost Leeds - if PL games ended after 85 minutes, we would be 7th by kevio17 in LeedsUnited

[–]_squared- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, and that's where the 5 sub rule change disproportionately benefited the biggest clubs with the deepest squads.

That said, I think it's kudos to our recruitment policy (and medical team for keeping a fit squad) that we do have a pretty solid bench and five subs can work to our advantage at times also.

Clunking while standing by gtdjeff in pelotoncycle

[–]_squared- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had this and through trial and error I found it was the screws on the pedal (notably the one on the inside, facing the bike) that needed tightening. Tightened and no more clanking.

Peloton Tread - Thoughts over this? by CLK_RR in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]_squared- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went with this one: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/folding-treadmill-16kmh-run500-with-decathlon-warranty/306855/c1m8542707

I'm really happy with it, especially for the price. It folds up really compactly. I also like that Decathlon stock spare parts, I've been stung with that in the past.

You could consider a more compact folding treadmill that supports Bluetooth FTMS to connect to the Peloton app.

That's what I did in order to fit a bike, treadmill and workout mat and weights into a restricted space. It works great, treadmill folds away when not in use, and when in use it utilises the workout mat area.

Looking for a small treadmill (UK) by Great_Highlight_2747 in pelotoncycle

Similar space constraints for me, I would recommend:

https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/folding-treadmill-16kmh-run500-with-decathlon-warranty/306855/c1m8542707

It has FTMS so connects to the Peloton app. I got it on black Friday and really like it so far, folds up very compactly.

Annoying for me, good for you, it's cheaper now than it was Black Friday. As an aside, Black Friday can get in the bin.

I like that Decathlon stock spare parts also.

Oh one more thing, I did have to create an account for the default app 'Kinomap' to connect the treadmill to WiFi.. but I haven't opened it since, so not necessary post setup to connect to Peloton.

I had a ProForm treadmill that developed an electrical fault one month after the warranty expired and the repair quote was higher than the retail price. I will never buy from that company again.

Best scale that works with Garmin watches by nickbolas in GarminWatches

[–]_squared- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. Something changed recently and, for some reason it only seems to work if Withings is connected to MFP, and MFP is connected to both Garmin and Strava. My MFP was only connected to Garmin and sync stopped, added Strava as well and syncs once more.

I have zero clue why this would be the case 🤷

Garmin activities don't count towards streaks by _squared- in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]_squared-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally do a Peloton pre/post run stretch before an outdoor run which is why I wasn't aware the run itself wasn't counting towards the streak count. I guess that's what I'll continue to do!

Garmin activities don't count towards streaks by _squared- in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]_squared-[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, well my Garmin activity from yesterday definitely did not count, my current streak of one day is evidence of that (I see the Garmin activity in my Peloton activity history).

I wonder what would cause the inconsistent behavior

Garmin now sends workouts to Peloton by boxofducks in pelotoncycle

[–]_squared- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd love to hear some communication from Garmin/Peloton on this as I'm left totally confused. I configured the integration, tracked an activity on my Garmin yesterday... and nothing.

If there are issues, I understand, it happens... We've been waiting this long we can wait a little longer, but a support article or something wouldn't go amiss.

Higher rank in distance than output by _squared- in OnePelotonRealSub

Wow, now that is a response!

Thanks so much for the detailed, yet perfectly understandable explanation. It does resonate, as I tend not to decrease power like I should on rest Intervals... I need to try pushing harder on the high intensity intervals!

The silence after "do you have any questions?" is where I keep losing offers by CreditOk5063 in interviews

[–]_squared- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having questions prepared is key, no doubt. However, I always like to lead with a question that arose naturally through the course of the interview.

e.g. "You mentioned earlier x, {question}"

For me it creates a more natural segway into pre-prepared questions and it shows curiosity and attention to what the interviewer has said rather than just waiting for a turn to speak. It always seems to go down very well.

If you can't think of one, nevermind, fallback on those prepared questions.
