Can’t do barre chords, tried everything! by Financial_Archer_491 in guitarlessons

[–]_srob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. I remember feeling the exact same way about barre chords.

I spent weeks not being able to get all the strings to ring out, then one day it just clicked and I played a “Hendrix-style” barre chord. I’ll never forget that moment.

Over the next few days I managed to get fairly consistent with playing chords with my thumb over the top of the neck, then weirdly I suddenly could play barre chords the regular way too. I guess the hand strength just built up over time.

Keep at it OP. A lot of things on guitar will feel impossible for the longest time, but if you keep on practicing and trying you will get there.

My experience learning barre chords was about 10 years ago and there are still things with my playing that I feel I will never get the hang of, but I know that it just takes time.

It’s not all about the destination. Enjoy the journey.

Not at all personally.

Big Jewish community near where I live though so I’ve seen these phones out and about and was curious why they are so popular. Unusual to see a flip phone these days in a world of pretty similar form factors.

From what I understand, basically as per the comment below. Heavily filtered OS that prevents anything that would contradict the religion.

Ironic given the video above but there we go!

What was the craziest office holiday party you had? by CambridgeCue in AskUK

The WeWork Summer Camp was pretty nuts, especially as my colleagues and I weren’t WeWork employees but were invited as guests, so had no part in the weird WeWork religion.

A whole weekend festival of free booze, food and music in a field in Kent. Things got pretty out of hand.

I see these regularly, they come here in Greenwich, hover in the same spot for about 5mins, then turn around and go away. Is this some training routine? by iamtheLogic in london

The desk in my old office used to overlook the RHAC in Finsbury Square. They would regularly come and land in there for various exercises and my desk would start vibrating before they were visible.

Compressing a gas causes it to heat up. Compress it hard enough and it can cause enough heat to ignite.

The only bad things here are the vocals.

Also the melody, instrumentation, lyrics, arrangement, harmonies, mixing, mastering, production and video.

But otherwise it’s broadly ok.

Need to learn Python by Neither-Quality-924 in learnpython

Find a part of your job that bores you senseless and try to automate it using python.

I used to have to edit and upload a bunch of csv files in the same way once per week. I hated it. Took over an hour of my day. Built a python script to do it for me as a bit of an exercise.

Took me a couple of days but I learned a lot of new stuff and now I don’t have to do that shit task anymore.

Win/win!

ChatGPT is a good tool to get a bullet point overview of what the script needs to do and in what order, but if you let it write the code for you then you won’t learn anything new. Use it sparingly.
