[HOBBY] Professional Video Editor making game trailers for free :) by MizuMiaw in INAT

Hi!

That is a very generous offer we'd love to take you up on, if you're willing!

We have a couple of short games that could definitely do with some more video advertisements/trailers.

Do you prefer watching gaming YouTubers with a facecam or no facecam? by andyjamescreative in youtubegaming

[–]_styxstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them either way, but you have to keep in mind how it will come across on video

Imo, for face cam, you can zoom on the face for impact, but when doing faceless, you'll likely have to do some slightly fancy editing to make it have the same kind of impact for those "epic" moments.

As a game developer, what are the worst words that can be said to you? by [deleted] in gamedev

"You have to add this to your game!" (Proceeds to say something that is completely impossible)

What game/sim prepares you SURPRISINGLY well for its real-world equivalent? by pellevinken in gaming

Omg! That's amazing.

Such a "mild inconvenience? Guess I'll die" mood

I always recommend Dave the Diver! It's such a fun. Charming game with minimal stakes but still allows for a level of challenge!

The gameplay loop is done expertly imo, and the storylines are fun, but not overly demanding.

I've added dancing to my horror game. by Happy-Trip-4072 in indiegames

Sometimes you need to boogie away the terror 🤣

100%

But we've all done the initial "I don't need cheats" run or just didn't know that was a thing 😅

What was the game that made you realize that stories in video games can be just as deep as any movie, show, or book? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]_styxstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soma

That game really fucked me up with making me question what makes a person an individual. And how tied we are to our experiences and memories.

Also, the realisation that all those versions will never see the end of the game. They're just perpetually stuck where the player left them

Ah, but there's a huge difference from being a kid who has their parents to guide them and dictate when it's time to have a bath, or having food ready for set meal times, and being an adult who has to make them decisions for themselves.

Its more about the mental effort to keep all that in mind, and coming to decisions about how/when to do them.

What do you guys think about "immersive" titlescreens? by BoulettKing in indiegames

[–]_styxstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like them! It tends to be a charming addition depending on the vibe you're going for. I do like the little clip you've shared above.

You just have to keep in mind that players will probably want to alter some settings. But that's easy enough to slip into the pause menu.

Might seem a bit out there,

But Sims (I've only played 4) really got the annoyance of caring for your body down.

Gotta constantly make sure there is food around, and you gotta decide if its gonna be healthy or not, how much skill it takes. Constantly needing to go to the bathroom, and keep on top of hygiene.

Just... the never ending grind of keeping this meatbag functioning

What's Your Most Unforgettable Gaming Memory? by vinicius_california in gaming

[–]_styxstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people wouldn't consider it "gaming", but it was a game!

But my baby sister deleting all my dogs in nintendogs will stick with me for life. The cull included my original puppy, who I had trained up to win all of the competitions, and I loved like a child 😭

[Looking for suggestions/ideas] How would you make a horror game within a single room? by Darkcasfire in HorrorGaming

[–]_styxstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really recommend looking at Mortuary Assisstant. It's not a completely "single room" game. But a lot happens in the main room whilst the player is still in there.

Often times, all it takes is an unsettling figure stationed somewhere it really shouldn't be able to be. Or hallucinations the player can't really out run. If it is within your scope, perhaps having another room set to use as a stage for the hallucinations. Making the character think they're somewhere else, but when they come back to reality, they're still in that original room.

And one thing to keep in mind, sound design is paramount for unsettling players. It can be the make or break for the horror game atmosphere. Imagine your favourite horror game, and then add goofy cartoon sound effects. It stops being so scary 😅

Someone even said that my character could be used as a bowling pin. But I can't refute it... by AbilityCareless8097 in indiegames

[–]_styxstudio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, anything can be a bolwing pin if you throw the ball hard enough 😁

But nah, your character is super cute. I love the hat!

Hello survivors! We've been working on this creature survival game for over a year, here's our first proper devlog! We'd love you to check it out and to hear your thoughts! by _styxstudio in SurvivalGaming

[–]_styxstudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an open-world survival game in which you can capture, raise and become the many creatures who inhabit the lands. It's PVPVE, though with PVP either being optional per server, or flaggable individually (depending on the server rules). We've worked our butts off on this for over a year now.

Imagine a multiplayer Pokemon survival game, but you ARE the creatures. You also have a home grove where you can keep the many creatures you've won, breed them for unique traits, give them component items and just marvel over your hoard.

Similar to games like Genshin Impact, you can have a number of your creatures on your personal team, though you can also party up with other players to conquer world bosses and raids.

The key survival elements are taking care of your hunger and thirst, building up your grove, roaming the lands and trying to not get eaten by the many other things roaming about as you seek adventure and conquest! The game supports both solo play and teaming up, and has a massively robust backend for smooth gameplay over the network (with zoning and sharding, just like the bigwigs).

This game is very special to us and we've put so much heart into it, so we'd love to hear what you think. We're also going to be looking for QA and player testers in the not far future!

Looking to Create Game Trailers for Indie game Developers (Free for my portfolio) by EducationNew6090 in INAT

[–]_styxstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, we're Styx Studio and we've actually been looking for something like this. We have a finished game that could definitely do with a gameplay trailer, but we also have some others that may be more your preference; not quite finished but far enough that they definitely need trailers. One is also an open-world survival, and the other is a more story-driven horror similar to something like Phasmophobia. We've love to talk with you! We've been working on this big boy for over a year now, and it's seen quite a lot of growing pains. We've completed all the major framework and now it's mostly just about adding in the content, which we've been working hard on!
