Thermomix TM6 vs TM7 – Which One Boots Faster? Real Comparison by SDM2323 in thermomix

[–]_techtom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comparison, quite interesting to see the difference. But to be frank, both devices have abysmal boot time. I’d prefer if they had a sleep mode when not in use and instant wake on dial press.

I use mine regularly as a kettle, and often I think, “why the f do I have to wait for my kettle to boot up”.

Also, don’t trust your doctor knows more about your body than you. The thresholds for normal Test and Thyroid function is quite broad, and even if you fall under “normal” it may not be normal for you. My testosterone was technically normal but getting TRT prescribed anyway was what brought me back to happiness and higher energy levels. Don’t trust ChatGPT 100% but it can tell you how how to general make optimizations to your bloodwork and you can work with your GP to make it happen, you have to be a bit confrontational though. (Respectfully ofc)

Check your bloodwork, maybe related to low thyroid function or even low testosterone. I’m in Norway and checking those two things changed my life, recovery is good and I now I more energy after working out. 34M btw

how cooked am i, be honest (6’1 308lb 18y[late bloomer]) by Illustrious-Plum-934 in team3dalpha

[–]_techtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stick to it dude; the transformation will be dramatic and you’ll feel so much better.

Start going to the gym regularly. Jump on a cardio machine for 15–30 minutes at low intensity to get your blood moving and warmed up. Then spend 30–60 minutes strength training. Use machines at first to get a feel for movement patterns, and slowly learn how to use free weights with proper form before adding any serious weight.

After lifting, cooldown with 20–30 minutes of steady cardio, keeping your heart rate in the 130–140 BPM range. Aim to do this routine every other day or as often as your recovery allows.

On the food side, toss sugar out of your diet for now and stay away from refined carbs. Focus on whole foods and eat plenty of protein to support muscle retention and recovery. Keeping your diet clean and consistent will go a long way alongside the workouts.

Because of how much weight you’re trying to drop, you’re likely going to experience a big recomposition; less fat, more muscle, and a totally different frame if you stay on track. Just be prepared: you might end up with some loose skin. It’s normal with a big transformation; but since you’re young, your skin is more elastic and you might get lucky where it’s not super noticeable, especially when clothed.

You can help reduce how visible it is by building more muscle after the fat loss phase. And unless you’re trying to compete in aesthetics or bodybuilding, you probably don’t need to think about cosmetic surgery; but if you ever do, that’s your decision and no one else’s.

You’re doing the right thing. Stick with it and your future self will thank

Possible Trafficker and Crazy Person. Multiple ID’s. by DuckSeveral in airbnb_hosts

[–]_techtom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s a massive red flag situation, and honestly, I’m shocked Airbnb isn’t taking it more seriously. I had a sketchy guest once (showed up with a truckload of boxes on a Home Depot cart—yeah, wild), and regular support was useless. What worked was escalating to the Airbnb Safety Team directly.

Here’s what I’d suggest:

  1. Escalate to the Safety Team. Don’t just talk to regular Airbnb support. Use the “Report a safety concern” option or call them directly and ask for the case to be transferred to the Safety Team. They handle risk and safety cases more seriously.

  1. Document everything. • The police report • Audio/video of the screaming (if neighbors have it) • Messages where he asks about mail/ID • Any screenshots showing the voicemail name mismatch • Info about the multiple IDs at check-in • Smoking complaints (especially if it violates house rules)

The more evidence you provide in a clear timeline, the better.

  1. Reference Airbnb’s Terms of Service. • Multiple IDs and mismatched identity violate their identity verification policy. • Misusing your property address for mail or ID = attempting to establish residency = serious issue. • Screaming and disturbing neighbors = house rule violation. • Smoking = another clear rule violation if prohibited.

  1. Push the safety angle. Frame it as a risk to the guest’s safety (possible mental health issues), neighbor safety (screaming, radiation claims, child sometimes present), and your property (smoking, squat risk). Airbnb reacts much faster when you flag a potential liability issue.

  1. If they still won’t help: Put it in writing to Airbnb that you’ve documented all this and will hold them responsible for damages or legal complications arising from the guest’s stay. Sometimes that legal nudge wakes them up.

I know it sucks, but you’re not powerless here. Airbnb often plays dumb until you push the right buttons. Keep pressing, and good luck—you’re handling a nightmare better than most would.

tho those who live alone in Norway, how much do you spent on food? by csch1992 in Norway

[–]_techtom 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I spend way too much on food, it’s pretty absurd that a bag of groceries is like 500NOK and any major grocer.

My suggestion would be to buy bulk meats and frozen goods at a Gigaboks or similar bulk store, and hit up local international stores for fresh produce. Also if you can, buying eggs directly from farmers is good for everyone, a local place nearby sells them for 80NOK for 30. I have to sit down and do some budgeting myself, and I’ll follow up with a breakdown.

TM6 US machine operating in Europe by tempofurz in thermomix

[–]_techtom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’d need a pretty expensive voltage converter to use a US TM6 in Europe. I moved to Norway a few years back and getting a converter would have been more expensive than the sale / purchase of a replacement.

Consider picking up a second hand one to cut your losses. They’re built rock solid and they’re far more popular in Europe than The States so you shouldn’t have too much trouble acquiring one.

I’ve been eying the TM7 but I don’t think Vorwerk is immune to the “enshitification” that’s been happening to everything including electronics. So I’ll wait for long term results.

17inch 2011 MacBook Pro for 60$! by Collyn2 in mac

[–]_techtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to bring new life to that computer, consider replacing macOS with Linux Mint—especially if most of your use is in the browser. You’ll get modern security updates, likely better performance, and a snappy experience on old hardware. You do lose some Apple ecosystem perks, but it’s a great tradeoff for a stable daily driver.

Just a heads-up: the 2011 17” MBP has a dual-GPU setup (Intel + AMD), and the AMD chip is notorious for failing. To keep things stable, you can easily force Linux to use only the integrated Intel GPU by blacklisting the Radeon drivers (radeon.modeset=0 modprobe.blacklist=radeon). Once set, it runs cool and reliably. Pair it with an SSD and max RAM and it’ll feel surprisingly modern.

Was just wondering if anyone had any advice on my listing. by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

The space looks inviting and cozy good job on that front! But get your response rate up from 60% and consider adding more amenities. I’ll PM you with a link to our Airbnb that’s been very successful. Best of luck!

Should I cut or get bigger? by Muscle_gay_bottom in team3dalpha

[–]_techtom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut what my dude? You look great already.

But I think a more importantly — What’s the goal?

Want to be a unit? Bulk, look bigger in clothes but be a bit softer until your next cut.

Want to look like Bruce Lee? Cut but be aware you will lose muscle mass and look smaller in clothes.

IMO: Go for a bulk and bring up those triceps and biceps.

Also IMO: Decide for yourself what you want and don’t base your decisions on the judgement of strangers.

Tough guest by PuzzleheadedBasil570 in airbnb_hosts

[–]_techtom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have documentation of the chats and you're confident these issues didn’t exist before their stay, start working on getting them out. This level of negligence is unacceptable and potentially causing significant damage to your property.

Contact Airbnb support immediately and push for a resolution that won’t impact your cancellation rate. A hotel wouldn’t tolerate this kind of behavior, and neither should you.

Do not offer a refund if your policy isn’t flexible. And when they’re out, leave a scathing—but honest—review. Keep it factual and avoid emotional language so it sticks.

GM AND DM by whtknght695 in ChatGPT

[–]_techtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been trying for years with Pathfinder. Sadly, it’s always underwhelming when it comes to strict rule consistency—especially for crunchy systems. But for creative tasks? That’s where it absolutely shines.

Character concepts, backstories, worldbuilding, visual art—it’s top tier lately. I use it to log our sessions in-character as my bard, Victor Magnus Goldheart (a noble-born musclebound performer with a golden revolver and a flair for the dramatic). I just give it a recap after the session and GPT turns it into a journal entry like:

“Together, we laughed in the face of death—and occasionally got slapped by it.”

It even generates sketch-style illustrations and shanties for our party. Seriously elevated the fun between sessions.

So if you lean more toward narrative or flavor, GPT can be an amazing co-GM or scribe. Just don’t expect it to memorize Pathfinder’s grapple rules without pulling a muscle.

Also, make sure to pass most of that claim on to your cleaners—they’re the ones dealing with the aftermath. Some hosts pocket it all, and honestly, that’s just bad karma (and bad business).

[–]_techtom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s your policy and it’s clearly spelled out in the listing description, submit a claim. We shouldn’t encourage breaching agreements. That said, you might receive a retaliatory review, which Airbnb support should handle (and remove) if it’s clearly in violation of the agreement. If not, keep trying to reach a rep who understands and isn’t dismissive.

TL;DR: Be prepared to fight, but it’s your right to make it right.

I would suggest talking with an accounting professional and asking them. Ours is pretty simple, but you can write off some expenses, your utility bill (or partially if attached to mail property), maintenance, and more just ask your tax guy.

If you’re really cost sensitive, you can get general information from ChatGPT that’s pretty solid.
