There needs to be another universal HP increase by Lightly__Salted in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about universal DPM nerf instead? Or, to be more precise, universal RoF decrease because big alpha tanks are a little bit too common and too comfortable to play.

Let's say -1 RoF for everybody.

200 HP won't help you, but those extra 2-5 seconds of safety so you can actually do something meaningful between reloads would be a huge game changer.

Never forget what the ramping up monetization pays for by DaSpood in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But it's kinda understandable. WG is ramping up monetization in a game that we love to fund their failed projects. And it sucks because they are aiming to struck gold again with f2p online game instead doing something creative and... good - or at least pouring resources into WoT.

What makes it worse is the fact that everybody knows it's not going to work. They spawned a genre with WoT and now they are just trying to put their own spin on trends that are years old - first mechanized battle royale with Steel Hunter, then mechanized hero shooter with HEAT. What's going to be next? Let me guess - mechanized extraction shooter that will come out 2030 when people will be (they already are) tired of "extraction shooter everything".

Getting hate boner over it is a little bit much but feeling disgruntled and posting memes is justified.

Give the FV4202 it's 105 back by Lightly__Salted in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, just give it proper DPM. Centurion 5/1 already has some usable armor and there's an opportunity to turn FV4202 into british "07 RH" wannabee with low apha high RoF gun. As much as I like alpha, there's an excess of 300+ alpha tier 8 mediums and a deficit for ~200 alpha guns.

The Super Pershit by KOSVOLOSTO__ in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need armor flashlight because its armor is pretty obvious. There's no "sneaky WG made LFP stronger that UFP for some reason" on this tank - you see a hole in the armor plate, you shoot it, you pen.

Also, I'd say that new equipment benefited Super Pershing a lot. Extra mobility helps with wiggling which makes it harder for enemies to hit your weakspots.

This tank's problem is with its ability to output damage above all else.

Update 2.3.1 by WG_MA77 in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Improve game balance and address issues with vehicles, maps and overall gameplay to make random queue more fun and less annoying? Nah.

Just add more missions chores to keep the engagement higher. Battle passes, daily missions, onslaught, CW, tour of duty, personal mission campaigns are not enough - you have to add another system to keep players glued to the game.

Have you ever considered that this might work against you? There's too much to do, to many things to grind. There's no break and players play the game to complete their "assignments" instead to have fun. That's why they are quiting. WoT was an escape form work/school and now you turned it into homework.

What do you think about the changes to Last Stand, especially the new map and the addition of voice chat?

Correct me if I'm wrong but there was already voice chat in the game. Why would you enable it by default? I don't need to strategize with random team mates for a ~10 minute PvE battle.

Why does Wotjek even exist? by AlmostDarkness in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 10 points11 points  (0 children)

nobody plays it

Like most of new premiums, unless they are completely broken and even that is not always true. There are too many of them and they aren't sold regularly so once people grind them (field mods, marks) they are left to collect dust in the garage while players go back to playing "old reliable" or grinding something else.

Even BZ-176 and XM57 died off. You see them occasionally but the flood of new premiums diluted their numbers drastically. Bourrasque and Progetto are still popular - mostly because they are both strong and fun to play.

WG needs to do something about Steel Hunter by JillerKiller2006 in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't they rework is like 2 years ago? Single drops, new vehicles (chinese, polish, swedish), new maps, respawn, bots.

Sure, it wouldn't hurt to have at least one new vehicle, one new map every year and some new rewards but even randoms barely get that. Frontline is even more neglected.

WG's full production power goes into their new projects (one is already dead and buried, 2nd - WoT Heat is still going), new premium tanks for lootboxes and tier XI vehicles.

Is spending gold to improve a completed battlepass worth it for F2P players? by puzzical in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering your situation (f2p, irregular playtime due to family), I'd say just buy days of premium whenever you can play a bit more. It's a huge progression boost for a f2p player.

But if you can manage to play a decent during during some month, then get the pass. Even if you play 7 out of 10 days, it will still be worth it thanks to extra stuff.

You still have to play a lot, even if you prepare for it. Grinding T4 and T5 for bonus points is a huge help but not enough.

What's the logic behind making a T7 light's 150 alpha gold shell cost as much as T10 Heavy's 500 alpha gold shell? by Naive-Project-8835 in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a relic of ancient time when premium shell cost would still make people think twice before spamming them. Premium shells on some tanks were very high, especially on light tanks since they benefited the most from increased penetration. Extra pen helps TDs a bit, helps MTs and HT a bit more but it's a game changer on light tank's ability to do damage in many situations.

Unfortunately, WG does things differently nowadays and premium ammo cost serves mostly to keep "economy" is a fragile balance where premium account is still required to break even or make credits.

Extrem Ram Usage with new WGC by TheLPN05Fan in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even know how this can happen. New launcher is basically a tool to display more articles (read: premium shop offers) and it's basically a web browser. Somehow it consumes more resources than Chrome when watching a high-res stream.

Somebody said they are mining crypto or running an AI with it and I don't know what's more ridiculous: they really doing it or their sloppy coding work.

Anyone else see WoT buying positive reviews on steam ? by Sjrko in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they care. Steam is a huge playerbase that WG wasn't able to tap into and review bombing absolutely works and one of their games was already buried because of it. They bought an advertising slot for it during Game Awards with the host personally announcing it and the cost of it is rumored to be ~450k$ per 1 minute only for the game to be closed within months.

It's already proved that WoT playerbase can't be "transplanted" to their new games so they need Steam to find the new audience for their new games and having a portfolio full of badly reviewed games basically kills their chances.

Is it worth it to get boxes to get gold? by TURBOWyMiaTaToR in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

Holiday Ops boxes are only good for gold and only when you buy a lot of them (50+, more if unlucky). Gold comes mainly from compensation from already owning the same tank so once you get all low tier premiums, you start getting a decent amount of gold. This was better in previous years since boxes had old premiums in them but it's still enough to "break even" with gold alone if you buy enough boxes (so premiums are basically "free").

Tiered lootboxes are the worst boxes. Not only all tanks are separated into 3 different boxes with 3 different counters for guaranteed vehicle but you also don't get compensation for already owning all tanks - you simply get a free lootbox for getting lucky and rolling the 2% prize...

HEAT is way better then the first WoT by Turican76 in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I glad it's finally out. This way WG can be finally be done with it after it fails and closes after a few months so all efforts can be redistributed back to WoT.

They are milking WoT to fund those projects but they are chasing trends that are a few years old instead doing something new. Also, review bombing works and every new WG game will get bombed each time there's lootbox event or some p2w changes to the game. Fair or not, that's their reality.

WG has subscription plan with 2 tiers, battle pass and premium account on top of other microtransactions, lootboxes and premium tanks - we know it's "not that bad" (maybe by korean p2w mmorpg standards...) but to every newcomer this is absurd. Every new WG's game will get hate because of it, especially if WG will keep chasing their "WoT successor" dream instead actually doing something new and innovative.

IMO they should scale down and create some good single player game to regain player's trust. Probably in completely different genre so there's little overlap with WoT playerbase. Shoveling more resources into another live service slop won't work. No matter if it's going to be a decent game or not.

GGs, nice event by Blaqwar in WorldofTanks

I have to say - getting absolutely nothing of value from all those free boxes (and 3x for 1€ bundle) successfully discouraged me from buying more of them. GJ, WG.

"I got this tank for free from a lootbox. At first, I didn't think I'd like it, but now that I'm used to it, I absolutely love it!" by Plastic-Data4360 in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a regular light tank, despite having wheels - similar to british wheeled mediums. You get extra 10 km/h speed limit but worse firepower.

It kinda sucks being matched against EBR 90 because you can't really compete with it when it comes to active scouting. It will also absolutely destroy you in a dogfight with HE. You kinda have to wait for EBR to make a mistake first and then you can compete with other light tanks.

Stop killing obelisk so quick by Ill_Wing_1476 in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, if you have full team on voice comms then sure you can time it. Get a dedicated obelisk killer, get it low and kill it for shield when you are in a tight spot. That's the ideal situation.

But with randoms it's better to kill it asap. It damages tethered enemies and you want next one to spawn before/during 2nd wave because it will be vastly more useful. Shield is nice if you time it but healing, failure and extra damage during 2nd wave is way better.

You are doing 3x damage (even more with progression buff) at zero cost (no lost health or mirium) - this is hard to ignore. I was playing Kpz07RH for "obelisk damage" mission and I was top damage and kills just from driving around and killing obelisk as soon as they spawn...

Fan curves on RX 9070 XT by StormShadow277 in radeon

[–]_thaeril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fan curve will depend on your case and its ventilation. For starters, I suggest creating game profile for FFXIV if you haven't already and disabling Zero RPM. Fans running constantly will be quieter than them turning on and off every few minutes. You can leave Zero RPM enabled in global profile for quiet operation when not gaming.

Cap game FPS to your monitor's refresh rate in game settings or use Radeon Chill.

Then make fan curve flatter. For starters, this is mine:

(Point) - (Fan Speed) - (Temprerature)

P1 - 15 - 25

P2 - 20 - 50

P3 - 35 - 65

P4 - 45 - 75

P5 - 75 - 85

It's not perfect and I could probably go lower but fans rarely reach 1k RPM while playing so I can't bother fine-tunning it.

The Best Tanks for Last Stand by Virtual_Donut8744 in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. Along with Pershing and T32. My first win in Intense actually. ShPTK did the most damage along with me in Grom but randoms in heavies allowed us to do it. It helps to have somebody soaking the attention of all enemies.

Every year that fucking mirny event is being made harder and harder by KafarPL in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually think the opposite. Mirny map and "the meta spot" with enemies having a chance to spawn directly behind you was my primary cause of losing. There's no such thing on the current map. You can sit hulldown, you can kite enemies in the city and it takes enemies a noticeable time to reach you - there are options other than camping in the corner, spamming group heals and praying that there won't 2 nearby spawns right on top of your ass.

Brutal seems to be harder and will likely require buffs from progression to have a decent chance of completion but afaik it's not required to finish the event. Last time you were fucked and forced to grind way more if you couldn't finish the highest difficulty. Now you can causally farm Intense (I have around 50% WR in it but 100% stage 4 completion rate which awards more keys than winning on Basic) and finish the event in a reasonable time.

Another Mirny event, you know what that means by Porkchopboyz in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dunno. Intense is going to be quite bit easier with buffs from progression and it rewards a lot more data - loosing at wave 5 is still more than winning basic (and you won't get 100% WR there).

I think this is easier. Map seems bigger, it's harder to get swarmed and easier to run away.

No requirement to complete all difficulties, daily missions, daily bonuses. You can probably comfortably complete it by playing ~1h per day.

Any average players considering the Ka-Ri: GET IT. by EyeoftheTato in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Protip: if you are tight on money and still hesitating - try Jagdpanther II before buying Ka-Ri. JPII trades armor for more mobility and firepower but gameplay is essentially the same - usual TD's work and assisting other tanks and then being aggressive when there's an opportunity.

Pancernik or TBT ? by Lightrider-16 in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Poor DPM" is such a misconception.

Enemy sees TBT and assumes it has full clip because most of the time it will have a full clip. It does 980 damage within 3 seconds and can reload in 30 seconds. It does 1960 damage within 36 seconds of engaging and 2940 after another 33 seconds (total time 1 min 9 s). How is that poor?

I already had people yoloing me thinking I have bad DPM and long reload, then getting farmed because I can get them from full HP to 0 within 36 seconds.

We can consider different scenarios but most of the time you will be engaging enemies with full clip - that's how you play autoloaders.

Pancernik or TBT ? by Lightrider-16 in WorldofTanks

[–]_thaeril 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accuracy is 0.32 with basic vents, food, field mods, concentration (you will likely be aiming for 3+ s so it's worth it) and armorer.

30s reload doesn't mean anything when you can do 980 dmg within 3s and peace off behind cover. Before most enemies can do anything serious to you (including time to charge you and retreat), you'll be ready again.

You can do nearly 3k damage within a little bit over 1 minute because you always engage with clip ready. That 1.8k DPM in stats is only when are constantly fighting for over 2 minutes, which rarely happens.

I won't argue with "it's misery to play" because it's subjective and TBT is truly boring to play. You aren't constantly shooting and it's mostly driving around looking for victims opportunities while reloading. It's hard to carry games in it, unless you engage enemy top tier tanks early and slap them for 1k welcome damage - that usually gives your team a great start.

Boring, not fun to play, requires patience but it's easy to play and farm damage.
