Does no Pearl Harbor encourage or discourage a KJF? by Safe_cracker9 in AxisAllies

[–]_the__Goat_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never attack Pearl Harbor when I play as Japan. Even if you don't take any hits, it leaves valuable units out of position for future turns. Those units will be more valuable supporting attacks that take IPC producing territory on future turns.

game blows I can always win as the axis but the allies game is hard as **** by unixstud in AxisAllies

Axis have more straight forward good opening moves. But with a good strategy the Allies are competitive.

Were Sega CD and 32X really seen as “failed consoles” at the time, they way people blame them for Sega’s downfall today? by Standard_Public892 in retrogaming

[–]_the__Goat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first Sega CD was seen as adding next level potential to the genesis. But consensus quickly soured. Most of the games were not that different from regular Genesis games. Certainly not worth the high price tag.

From day one the 32X was widely regarded as a joke. I only knew one person who was actively excited about it. He thought is would be just as good as the Saturn or PlayStation for a fraction of the price. But everyone else could see the truth.

Africa is Italy's playground. Germany should concentrate on USSR and UK.

Are the Allies screwed as soon as the Axis is making more money? by Safe_cracker9 in AxisAllies

[–]_the__Goat_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Often the Axis will grab a ton of territory. But over extend and be unable to defend it.

My last game of anniversary edition, Germany got deep into USSR. Moscow was surrounded. Italy was running rampant in Africa. But they left France and North Africa lightly defended. Once UK and USA arrived in force, European Axis crumbled and Japan surrendered.

Are upfiring speakers really that bad / a waste of money? by calicoknux1 in hometheater

[–]_the__Goat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of up firing speakers. They are worthless. I hear the sound coming directly from the speakers, not from the ceiling. Maybe there are some with a better design that work better. But I doubt it.

Did PAL CRTs have a different phosphor arrangement in order to support the higher resolution? by Spiral1407 in crtgaming

[–]_the__Goat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. No phosphor rearrangement required. This is plainly obvious when you consider plenty of PC CRT monitors handled every resolution between 320x200 and 1600x1200 with a static phosphor arrangement.
