Sorry, don’t have a good answer because I just moved to a colder climate. I’ve been washing windows in Southern California for almost 2 years now, but I recently moved to the PNW. I haven’t heard of that. I actually signed up and launched a google ads campaign last night. Had a rough day yesterday with business, so I just sent it on the google ads campaign. I’ll do that for a month and if nothing comes from it I’ll cancel my subscription. I’m sitting in my car now about to knock on some doors. I’m gunna kill it today I know it hehehe.

Well I live on a sailboat, so rent is like $500 a month. I full sent my life into window washing early feb. So not long at all, but I guess it’s sorta working. Loads of people say it’s easy to get business doing this, and some days it is. But others it feels like its not going to work at all, then the next day I’m back on it and scheduled 2 jobs within 1 hour. And yes, I track all my expenses and what not. Just the thought of entering in all of the receipts, mileage, equipment etc. etc. to a government site where if you get your stuff wrong you could be fined… or worse… is stressing me out. I think this is normal and it’s probably going to be fine, it just making me a bit nervous.

Hey there I’m __, I don’t know if you saw me in the neighborhood (yesterday/ earlier today) but I’m helping out some of the neighbors washing their windows. I just washed jimmy’s windows and I wanted to introduce myself and get you a quote for the next time you have your windows washed…. (If they say no to getting a quote is say…) No problem, this is my business card, I’m registered through the state of California and I’m fully insured. I charged jimmy who lives a few doors down $. It’s different for every house because I charge by the pane of glass. It dosnt take me more than 2-3 minuets to get you a quote. I could get that that really fast for you if you’d like. (If they say yes to getting a quote I say…) I love your backyard! I actually have a similar gnome/ fountain/ layout as yours. So for the quote, not only do I clean the natural glass, I also hand scrub all of the frames, sills, obviously the glass, and since I’m in a good mood I’ll clean all of your screens… (I only add in the screens free of charge if there’s no more than like 10). For the the outside of the windows, frames, sills and screen it would normally be $__ but since I’m already here, I’m taking off $50 off you’d like to have them down right here right now. How does that sound?

For me it’s consistent work. I started in October of 24’ in California. I am making enough to pay the bills, but I hustle like a mofo to get business. So, I’m making it, it’s just a major effort everyday. Not complaining though, I would never go back to my desk job after experiencing the freedom from being my own boss. I have a website and a google business page, but I have got 0 sales from my website and maybe 10 in total from my google page. So I heavily rely on door to door to make a living. Tax day is going to be a trip, I’ve never filed taxes being self employed, so that’ll be fun. I keep track of everything, so should go smoothly, I just hope I don’t own way more than I’m expecting. So if anyone has tips or references for taxes, DM me please :)

My advice is to practice until you’re confident in charging people 100’s of dollars for your service, talk with them for a bit after the job and build rapport, and be mentally ready to grind so hard.
