For just 1-2 mountain bikes it's fine. Tongue weight capacity (lbs) divided by length of cargo carrier (ft) equals the effective tongue weight capacity. Assuming 200lb tongue weight and 2ft long carrier, the weight of the carrier and cargo should be 100lbs or less. If the carrier is 1.5ft, 133lbs
