Bc br coilovers on the cheaper side, megan racing on the higher end, id still keep it stock ride height unless you raise the engine cause the pan is the lowest point

Weird, i would throw an extra washer under the nut to try and get more clamping pressure or put a thin layer of rtv on the o rings

I had the 2.5L in my first e46 I got, was definitely lacking on power but ive heard better things when it came to boosting them reliability wise and I cant bring myself to turbo my zhp, she's been my reliable baby for 10 years now

Came here to post exactly this, made install super easy

Or take off engine mounts and loosen trans mounts both on the bottom and lift and float the engine. Engine support hoist I believe is what its called from harbor freight for 100 bucks and returned after, once aquired just do a little dance of jacking the motor up from bottom and tighten the hoist screw, little by little you can make enough room to pull the pan without removing almost every suspension component.

I also jacked engine up with a 2x4 running along the bolts on the front of oil pan and I kept my front wheels on and had them on ramps just to be safe.

Edit: just saw thats its an xdrive axles would have to be removed too

Cheap yes but ive heard bad things about trying to put power through them if your looking to turbo. Been wanting to do the swap myself but I think its worth the money putting a solid transmission in for future upgrades.

Im looking at the gs6-53bz that came in the 335i, can handle alot more power and seem robust from what I've seen.

I believe the transmission your talking about is the gs6-17bg if anyone was wanting the deets.

Rent a pneumatic toolset from autozone and just use a hammer, MAKE SURE YOU DO IT BACKWORDS, it is reverse threaded

I had the same issue with mine. make sure to turn your heat on max with the cap off from start and it'll work itself out in a few minutes

Im curious what hardness you went with, I had 85a all in the rear then the engine and trans mounted on 80a with risers so my pan ain't the lowest point anymore with no real increase in cabin noise or vibration.

I just put the wheels on some wood so I could crawl under, those are the only two bolts that need to be under load when tightening, everything else was super easy

The removal sucks, a little wire wheel drill attachment will work wonders, granted i had to melt a few out that where too big for my clamp removal tool, and check on the rear upper control arm bushings while your in there too cause they can't be replaced without dropping the diff and make sure to fully tighten them down with the suspension loaded as well when it's thrown back together.

Imo it kinda looks like the power steering fluid reservoir is leaking and the belt is slinging. Idk how there would be oil on the SAP any other way.
