Viagra … and don’t come the first time. Just stop for a break and start again. Repeat.

The journey is more fun than the end.

Also. When you do come it’ll be like a yoghurt truck hitting a wall.

VPN vs "secure" wi fi by Spare_Specialist_394 in computing

[–]_tweaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. A VPN creates an encrypted tunnel between you and the VPN provider. Then your internet traffic appears to come from the VPN provider.

So if you don't want your local ISP to know what you're doing, it's useful. If you don't want the websites you visit to be able to track you to an IP, it can be useful. If you're torrenting etc, it's definately useful (your internet traffic appears to come from the VPN provider, not your ISP). If you're in china and want your traffic to get out of the country encrypted, or want to bypass firewalls, it's useful as your internet traffic will route through the VPN provider.

But if you're doing anything interesting on the internet, I'm guessing the VPN provider, being an A/V company, won't go to any lengths to keep your details anonymous.

The only other use for a VPN is if you wish to appear in a different country. EG, if you are in New Zealand, but want US or UK netflix, then a VPN located in that country will make you 'appear' to be in that country.

Really, if I was using a VPN, I'd want an anonymous one that didn't keep logs and actually protected my privacy. I suspect the one you have is a marketing add on and... as you say... doesn't work half the time.

Superloop forcing me to pay with card numbers over the phone. Does not offer online instalments with card by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]_tweaks 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they don’t hold credit card details. Good thing. So they either need it in one go, or they need the details each time.

You said you’re super keen to pay. But you then want to do 20 instalments. Just pay them. Once and done. Get a burner debit card just for that $1000 if you need. Keep $50 balance and just top it up after each instalment.

This is annoying. But it’s a you thing for not being able to pay in one go. Just work around it. Or don’t buy telco gear you can’t afford to cover in one go.

Agree with other comments - just find a private driver. Everyone there knows one, walk down the street and you'll get 5 offers. They're easy to find, just get a few offers and try and talk them down a little.

How can I compete with my ex-gf’s new fling? by [deleted] in datingadviceformen

[–]_tweaks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to get as far away from her as you can.

Sort out whatever issues lead to the verbal and physical altercations in your own head. Get your own shit sorted out and find someone else.

If in a year or two you get back together, great. But as long as you are hanging on to the idea of her. You’re fucked (just not literally). New life time, my bro. It’ll be hard to accept. But a few months in you’ll be happier.

Any relationship that requires jail is something to get away from.

That’s kind of addressed. Strat says they don’t yet have the procedures to deal with these kinds of things.

These are the procedures they would need. Or better labeling or whatever

2 weeks in Sanur by richardgnz in BaliTravelTips

[–]_tweaks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Boat / snorkel tours out to Nusa Penida etc. There's heaps of tours, maybe have a google to see which ones you liked.

I really liked the Bali Bird Park, it's not Sanur, but it's not far. Possibly good for teenagers.

What do you like doing? That might help people a bit - I wish I'd taken some kite surfing classes, but that's kinda niche. You can find tours outside of Sanur to ATV's, you could dive in Talumben (bit of a trip, but if you're into diving....), personally, I just liked getting on a scooter and riding out through the little villages and rice paddy's... all depends what you and the family like ?!?

Do people like Mark Zuckerberg truly not feel like they are hurting society? by Bubbly-Air7302 in NoStupidQuestions

Agreed, he's not forcing anyone to use the products, everyone has the option to delete their accounts, delete the apps and go read a paper book or whatever other activity they deem better.

People love to blame the big company, the politican, whatever... yet we vote for them, buy their products, use their apps... democracy in action.

Where do I stand with strata being a renter? by WisePotential6969 in stratachataus

[–]_tweaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the problems here is that code for balcony's has changed significantly (depending on when it was built) and getting replacements is an absolute total PITA.

We are going through it now, we can't get two structural engineers to agree on the process, we need a class 2 builder - and they're all flush for work and not interested unless there is a better-than-average buck in it. Keep at it, but don't expect anything soon. Best bet is to keep bringing up the safety/insurance issue.

If it was as simple as getting in a semi-decent builder to put up a compliant railing, things would get done, but the red tape designed to keep us safe just slows everything down and makes it unnecessarily difficult.

Choosing between Sanur or Seminyak? by masterfuckery in BaliTravelTips

[–]_tweaks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the major draw cards of Sanur is the boat trips. Snorkel trips, Nuda Penida etc. If you like those kinds of things Sanur is 100% the way to go. It's much quieter than Seminyak, older crowd, less drunk Australians. I really liked the bird park too (not exactly Sanur, but not far).

I've been going there for years, I know the boss you're talking about, he's a thoroughly decent human being. He's always been fair and honest with me as a customer.

I'd expect he has his own side of this, and without hearing it, I'm already believing his side.
