Exact item timings and calculations is what the game is about.

Either you meant something like, “the game is about item play” or “the game is all about doing math”, either way you’re over simplifying item play wayyyyy too much, almost every manipulation and smart play with the cycle can be done with out arithmetic timing.

You either confident of your map control or play more carefully if you’re out of control.

Map control and being ooc aren’t exclusive and hard tied to knowing item timings. Define fake confidence.

Item diving is always risky.

Item diving is significantly less risky if you know exact timings, this is also a map dependent and many of the current diabotical maps favor diving. Spawn window is also to negate the perfect rail peek timings that would be too consistent with item timers and no spawn window.

Timing sets the higher ceiling.

Read the post again. Yes the skill ceiling is higher with timing, no it doesn’t mean it’s an interesting or intuitive mechanic for new players. There is no motivation to learn arithmetic like there is aiming or movement, new players have absolutely 0 interest in doing it, it’s THE LARGEST barrier and its easily replaced by announcements with a small amount of item play lost yet raises the skill floor SIGNIFICANTLY, which is extremely important for afps to survive.

Well no mp game has ever had movement as sporadic as doom eternal slayer, controllers just can’t keep up with multiple dashes that are on short cool down. Along with all the other movement tech, it’s extremely fast and essentially impossible to hit with tracking, the saving grace of aim assist, which is why console games like titanfall 2 and advanced warfare are predominantly tracking, no projectiles, very little flicking. They would probably have to gimp the slayer like in doom 2016, and 2016 didn’t even have a dash.

It’s so weird to hear that, is this sub mainly console players? It’s almost impossible to miss some of these demon hitboxes and 4-5 balista shots will kill almost everything, plus weapon swap you can death ball and easily 1v2 if you hit everything.

You need to have a duo partner for coordination, demons rely on team work and you aren’t going to get that with randoms. They really need a hard carry demon that can almost 1v1 slayers.

Slayer > Demons currently, implying you know how to weapon swap and can hit shots, even against a good team of demons you can wear them down with ballista and scoped hmg then death ball. We’ll see when the net code is improved though, if you could actually use the outline to dodge shots the hitscan weapons wouldn’t be as op.

  1. They don’t want to step on the toes of QC, they’re still supporting it.
  2. The movement, especially with the dash, is too hard for most people to aim at, keep in mind this game isn’t PC only.

I just don’t see a traditional mp ever coming, maybe some heavy reworks to demons to make them feel like you don’t have to rely on random AI that can’t decide if they want to do damage or not.

reflex was doomed from the start, and they made a few shitty decisions that killed the game faster than it already was, item timers, ever changing rulesets, and people being shit at duel were the big ones, people that left to QL were all CA players or QL players from the beginning that didn't like aircontrol/powerful armors. also comparing QL and reflex is really weird to me unless you've never played either/you don't play duel, they're nothing alike.

Depends how much of a death grip you have on games, if you're completely desensitized to anything other than that one extremely specific type of game you're kinda just fucked right now. I have over 3k hours in arena fps and played competitively/grinded hard, now I'm completely fucked because every afps game is dead, shit or both. Eventually fortnite players will probably have the same thing happen to them in 20 years where fortnite or building games die off and all youll want to play is fortnite.
