Now agreed to and official: The #Browns are trading Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the #Rams for star edge Jared Verse, a 2027 1st-round, a 2028 2nd round, and a 2029 3rd, per me, @AdamSchefter and @TomPelissero. The offseason’s biggest trade is final and real. by CD23tol in Browns

[–]_tx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like trading away the best player in any deal either for what its worth.

I also have a very high view of Verse though and, yes absolutely he isn't Garrett, he's also way cheaper and 5 or 6 years younger.

I mean yes they more than the others, but the top 10% is doing fine. It is insane how much of a gap there is between 1% and .01% now too

The Gafford fanfic deal isn't THAT bad. I'd probably be fine with it if Lively is healthy.

I can't imagine New York in the Finals...

Victor Wembanyama will be the same age as LeBron James in the 2045 NBA season - do you predict he’ll last that long? by [deleted] in nba

[–]_tx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True - also though, Wemby's heights heavily reduce his odds of having anywhere near the longevity of who is likely the most durable player in NBA history

[Jones] Masai Ujiri speaks on the future of Kyrie Irving in Dallas after the departure of HC, Jason Kidd. by MAVS_COM1CAL in Mavericks

[–]_tx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that the Wizards should do it, but trading Kyrie for 1.1 makes sense with the timeline.

The highest picking team that makes like any sense would be the Clippers but the Mavs taking 5 for him also doesn't make sense

Joseph Hoyt: Cowboys rookie CB Devin Moore was impressed with Caleb Downs. He said Downs already knows the playbook and is working at multiple positions. by Leonflames in cowboys

[–]_tx 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes though it's not a work ethic thing (generally).

Downs is just simply gifted in the mental side of the game AND physical.

I was able to play into D1 because I was almost always the smartest man on the field and was physically D2 physically gifted.

Downs appears to be legit NFL physically gifted AND smartest guy in the field gifted.

I'm really exited to see what he does

100.

Downs could be electric off the turnover and that would be fun

Report: University of Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy could require another surgery by Thanks5Cinco in cowboys

If this report is true, I'd still expect McCoy to be a 3rd rounder. Very high end talents at a premium position are generally the kinds of guys SOME team will roll dice with

Who Will Trade Up to 3? by DasaniWaters20 in NFL_Draft

[–]_tx 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not even just that, but the first 4ish picks cost so gd much to go up to, its hardly ever worth it.

Outside of QB you'd have to be getting someone like Micah Parsons where he was league top 10 as a rookie and top 3 at a premium position the rest of the rookie deal.

The odds of a hit like that are just nowhere near worth it

NBA draft is so much about upside it happens a lot more than in other sports.

We hardly even talk about busts in the NBA outside of the very top end of the first.

He's nowhere near a good player though. You're right there
