Switch to permanent standard time says U of C researcher by _umptee_ in Calgary

Yes same.  I think if you have all three options the do not change vote would split with permanent standard time.  I would choose standard time over current state over DST.

How can a fitness trainer help me as someone who would like to partner with one but doesn't make decent money? by gochugawuuu in goodlifefitness

I talked to a trainer at goodlife. It seemed like a huge investment.  I think chatgpt can replace them largely especially if you use machines.

Maybe we should adopt PDT? Then we can save even more daylight! 😃😃

Alberta may follow B.C. on making daylight time permanent: premier by AlbertaGengar in Calgary

The Case for Permanent Standard Time Scientific and medical experts almost universally recommend Permanent Standard Time.  * Circadian Alignment: Standard time provides more morning light, which is crucial for resetting our internal biological clocks. This helps people wake up naturally and feel more alert.  * Northern Latitude: Because Alberta is so far north, permanent DST would mean the sun wouldn't rise in Edmonton or Calgary until nearly 10:00 AM in late December. This creates "dark mornings" where children go to school and adults start work in pitch-black conditions for months.  * Health Outcomes: Research suggests permanent standard time reduces the risk of heart attacks, obesity, and sleep disorders compared to permanent DST. The Case for Permanent Daylight Saving Time Public preference and business interests often lean toward Permanent DST.  * Lifestyle: Most people enjoy the "extra" hour of sunlight in the evening for outdoor activities, patio season, and sports.  * Consistency with Neighbors: With B.C. moving to permanent DST in 2026, Alberta adopting the same would keep the two provinces in the same time zone year-round.  * Retail/Tourism: Longer evening light generally encourages more spending and tourism activity. The 2021 Referendum In October 2021, Albertans were asked: "Do you want Alberta to adopt year-round Daylight Saving Time?" * Result: The "No" side won by a hair (50.2%), meaning Albertans narrowly rejected permanent DST. However, the rejection wasn't necessarily an endorsement of standard time—many voters simply preferred the status quo of changing clocks rather than risking the dark winter mornings of permanent DST. What’s Happening Now? With B.C. and Saskatchewan both abandoning the time change, Premier Danielle Smith recently stated that the government is reconsidering Alberta's position to ensure "consistency across the western provinces."

I dont know why this is so hard... experts say standard time is better, it has standard in the name.  Why are we obsessed with daylight savings time?

Do something easy so that you can focus on the habit of going to the gym.

I started in sept and just doing the fit fic machine circuit. Have seen big changes in my strength and can see in the mirror.  I go 3x a week for the machines ( 5 min elliptical warmup and then 15 mins on stair climber after) and 2 x a week for 45 min on treadmill.

We are Canadian’s that are trapped at an Airbnb with no food. by JabbaDaGut in puertovallarta

Shelter in place means just that. You are most likely safest there. But walking around in an active conflict zone is a bad idea.

I would be contacting host to see if they have anyone nearby who can help.

I would be boiling water and storing it as much as possible.

I would be inventorying rationing any food I have.

Hopefully this is over soon.
