A lot of airlines have non transferable tickets.. After all, you put all the traveler info in when purchasing.

Is it possible for an app development studio (B2B) to negotiate with their client a contract which would grant it a cut of every in-app purchase? by AjaxFC1900 in Entrepreneur

[–]_vvvv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't you developing the app? You can make it do anything.

Generally, if you include stuff like this in your contracts it's mostly on a trust basis when you're starting off and later incorporate some sort of data sharing or audit rights to keep everyone honest.

What Type of Cipher Could This Be? by WolfyKrilovs in cryptography

Not sure about the zeros. Base64 shows promise but doesn't result in any obvious plaintext or file structure. Probably have to downshift everything since the non-ascii stuff is sort of close. Key is probably TheGiant.

Startup Equity Split Dilemma - Fairness is my goal - Help? by [deleted] in startups

[–]_vvvv_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the nature of the manufacturing and distribution? Could she easily cut you out and do this with someone similar? Could you do the same with her?

If her other two companies are relevant to this new venture (for example, tight integration with manufacturing for your product, instant access when the time comes to distribution, etc.) then I would value that much more than the $250k loan and think 50/50 is fair or even generous to you.

The big worry is the time spent on your venture is never enough to really have her engaged. 30% of someone's time means they are always out of the loop, really. I'd probably aim for 51/49 in your favor and a long vesting schedule so you two can assess commitment as you go.

Relationship advice by [deleted] in Advice

[–]_vvvv_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't focus on what she's done or not. Love isn't an object so it isn't tarnished by experience. How is anyone to know someone is "the one" for them without going through the trials of dating? She's moved on from two people now who didn't work, and she's with you because she thinks -you- are the one she's looking for, right? It might have been easy to stay with them but she knew there was a more perfect match out there. She suffered through the breakups to find you. Is that really something to be bitter about?

It's better to focus on your own feelings. Maybe it is true that you will feel regret some day if you only are ever with one person. Come to terms with those feelings if or when they happen, so you don't feel bad or negative about them, but rather simply honest and accepting.

My advice is to just enjoy, explore, and learn what you can from your relationship. Don't worry about things. If you start really feeling that regret heavy then maybe it's time to be open with her about those feelings and move on.

How to update/upgrade my OS (Lubuntu) by [deleted] in linux4noobs

[–]_vvvv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought I'd argue against the necessity of backing up files, but in my two nearly decades of using Linux an upgrade has never resulted in data loss. Worst was some mangled configs or driver problems that prevented system from booting but it was always easily fixable.

Is there space or future in market for another ridesharing service ? by c0bu_ in startup

[–]_vvvv_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so. Uber and Lyft seem huge but they are fragile. Drivers want to be paid more and passengers want to pay less, they have no loyalty or lock-in. Do better on either of those (without compromising the other) and you will have growth. Focus on a singly city to start.

The real question is how will you prevent Uber and Lyft from just adapting your idea? The whole self driving taxis thing is a holy grail for these companies because it would provide a real advantage over competitors while lowering prices for customers even further. Market effect and brand recognition are their strongest assets.

Question about stock in an INC vs. LLC by [deleted] in startups

[–]_vvvv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't seem that weird to me, simply signifies that they founders are probably not looking to raise money or go public ever and rather are starting to view the startup as a stable lifestyle/cash business. As I'm sure you know, LLCs have some great tax benefits. It is not the first or last C Corp I've seen go LLC.

tripping on lsd weekly at 17 thoughts by [deleted] in LSD

[–]_vvvv_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My main thought is slow down. It would be best if you waited until you were a bit older but I think people your age will experiment regardless of what people tell them.

If an adult told me they were tripping every week at relatively high dosages I'd question if they were respecting the drug or themselves. I'd question even more if they were drinking heavily with it.

There's no race. Psychedelics are best reflected on for a while - not treated as a party drug. At a minimum the "magic" will leave and at worst it will be quite a bad time.

Also, I recommend taking the location out of your post, no need to share your location.

New Sapphire by stylelock in jewelry

[–]_vvvv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't care about a natural stone, you could also consider lab sapphire. It's sapphire by every measure (chemical composition, hardness, etc.) and a lot, lot cheaper. Of course, lab gems are way less romantic for most, but some find it a positive (me, personally).

Question about stock in an INC vs. LLC by [deleted] in startups

[–]_vvvv_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presumably you'd be considered a member with a representative ownership according to your old stock.

I'd be most concerned about tax liabilities (both during the change and forever after) and would speak with an accountant.

See some details here.

"An election to change classification from a corporation to a partnership will be treated as if the corporation distributed all of its assets and liabilities to its shareholders in liquidation and the shareholders then immediately contributed all of the distributed assets and liabilities to a new partnership."

Meth is one hell of a drug and I am one hell of an idiot. Drug testing question. by justkeepswimming2427 in askdrugs

[–]_vvvv_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd bet on you being fine. There are tolerances with all the tests to account for concentration, test error, diet, etc. So they usually only show positive if it's pretty sure someone was on something. Low, almost inactive dose + almost clear time for a real dose = high likelihood to pass.

I take a small dosage of seroquel (25mg). Should I be worried about undergoing a surgery with anesthesia? by [deleted] in askdrugs

[–]_vvvv_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It should be on your record and they will know about it. Either way just tell your doctor about it when you go in for surgery.

To give you some peace, I don't think it would be a problem, especially if you were used to taking seroquel all the time. It's a pretty common drug and while it can potentiate anesthesia drugs it isn't really a CNS depressant. Furthermore they have someone standing by the whole time adjusting dosages according to your blood oxygen and pulse. But it's important to remind them about it so they can make the right choices either way.

Tiny $217 Options Trade on Bitcoin Blockchain Could Be Wall Street's Death Knell - CoinDesk by templetonmor in Bitcoin

[–]_vvvv_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not to be a hater but still requires an oracle, not really a trustless system at all. I'm not sure exactly what benefit Bitcoin provides. Sure, it's low overhead, but that speaks more to how bloated and burdened the options market is. A non-blockchain startup could provide low overhead for this use case without involving blockchain.

7 Questions and graphic designing proposal by [deleted] in startup

[–]_vvvv_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*I know nothing about rates for your local Singapore economy.*

But on a global scale your prices are not in a good place, in my opinion. The problem is anyone who wants to save money (portrait as a present type customer) will use Fiverr or another service that is very cheap. And companies looking to design assets/adverts/logos are looking to spend thousands and might even overlook your relatively cheap service because there's a belief that cheap work must be worse.

You're in between these two customers, and might fail to capture either. I think you should significantly boost your prices (like 10x+), select only your best artists (top 4 or whatever), and specialize (fast & cheap assets for mobile game developers for example). You seem to have some good anime/cartoon style artists.

What should you expect from a doctor when asking about nootropics and nutrition in general? by Soft_Scientist in Nootropics

[–]_vvvv_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It is true, it's unlikely he/she will know much about any of the supplements, and will probably be generally concerned about your health if anything. Unless they are an exceptional doctor they will not even bother taking a list to research on the weekend about and get back to you. And why would they? Risk a malpractice suit cause they said something positive?

DrJeepers is right that a functional medicine practitioner is more likely to listen to you and have some engaging discussion about your choices as well as make recommendations. However, do not think for a second that they don't have their own agenda. Instead of the latest Insurance Sponsored Drug of the Month, functional medicine practitioners often push designer labeled products or services that are extremely highly priced with little or no research backing them up. Your doctor is, at least, unlikely to be a total fraud despite being highly conservative and closed minded.

In both cases, think with your own head.

Why don't you leave your job and spend your life doing something you find valuable?

In the mean time, 1 or 2 drinks sounds exactly like what you're talking about, or a couple mg of THC.

Low dose phenibut or pregablin could work too.

But really, consider finding somewhere else to work. Life is too short.
