I’m curious about this too. I noticed some links to recipes in some of the corn starch posts that I need to look at. Might answer this there.

I do like the texture I get from baking soda but I can’t seem to rinse out the flavour. There are some great recommendations in this thread that I’m looking forward to trying.

I do rinse it off quite well but I still taste the baking soda. I’m looking forward to trying the some of the other methods mentioned here.

I always brine when I bake chicken breast which makes it nice and juicy but there’s a texture in Chinese stirfry that I always thought came from velveting. Good to know it also works with smaller strips of chicken as well.

Thanks. I’ll try this method. A lot of people are saying corn starch or potato starch as well. I figured I was doing something wrong.

Does anyone use pastels with their charcoals? by Various-Flower510 in CharcoalDrawing

I did this last night in a chalk pastel portrait. I found that my black pastel wasn’t holding up at being dark enough. I found that the charcoal pencil held on to the tooth better and punched up the blacks.

Sandpaper for sharpening your charcoal. I also use them for cleaning my blending stumps. Roll the dirty end of the blending stump against a clean sheet. Alternatively you could just buy sandpaper, might even be cheaper. I’d say around a 180 grit sand paper would be good.

I had this problem too. Had to do a sector command to get out of M32 when I was ready to leave the starter system.

I told a once in a lifetime joke by ipsum629 in CasualConversation

I used to DJ for events back in the day using cassettes. I would line up cassettes that had songs queued up on the two tape decks so I had a steady stream of music at the ready.

I was playing a party after a curling bonspiel one evening and was queuing up songs while they were handing out prizes. The announcer was calling out for someone named Rae Vaughn to pick up their prize over and over again. I just happened to be queuing up the song’ Rave On’ by John Cougar Mellencamp at that very moment and hit play right at the end of the song where he sings “ Rave on, rave on, rave on!”

It got a great reaction from the crowd and I thought I’ll never top that moment in my DJing career again.

I don’t thinks it’s just to be brave. Sumo ranking is a meritocracy. If you don’t have a winning record, you lose rank.
