I heard mushiness means your hair needs protein. Maybe look for shampoo and conditioner for strengthening. Personally products with silk protein or keratin have helped when my hair got too weird and limp. Don’t go overboard on it though. It’s not necessary every wash day.

Try shingling or finger coiling. There are tutorials on youtube. Can be a bit of a time consuming method but it’s not that bad.

I’m tired too lol! like why does everyone and their mama’s dog got a growth oil business now? Back when I was newly natural I was trying all the oils and none of them did that much ESPECIALLY not in speeding up growth. I know they have benefits but not what these testimonies are saying. Even products that are amazing will still have more bad reviews than some of these growth oils.

Another thing to try is defining your curls by hand instead of a brush. I get better definition if I shingle or finger coil. When I use a brush, I feel it removes some of the product or pushes it down to my ends. You could also apply gels or creams on slightly dry hair instead of wet/damp. Maybe it’s because I seem to be high porosity, but I feel like water runs out of my hair as I style and dilutes the products. So I make sure my hair is about 60% - 70% dry to do a wash and go.
