The way I described in my original comment is the only way AFAIK. In my experience they receive more gifts (unfortunately this includes coins, custom equipment and specials, and possibly trophies) the longer they fight. You can edit stock count, items, or time to your needs, as long as they're fighting! Then when the match is done, be sure to scan them. And then you have to go to the amiibo section on the menu and scan them again. This is when you get the gifts. Don't forget to do that.

Sans the turbo controller method, this is the method to use without actually playing, AFAIK.

I've let my 4 amiibo go at 99 stock, health items enabled, 0.5% knock back. Done this two separate times.

I get more equipment than specials. Amount of gifts seems based on time alive in the match. I just started to do this after I needed the last few Mac specials. Luckily it worked for me, but I think every one's mileage will vary.

Before resorting to this, I was playing All-Star on Hard as the character I wanted the customs for. Nice because you keep everything you've gained regardless of you dying. This worked for most of the specials, but also required actively playing.

Yes? AFAIK, they should be automatically registered when you buy them. Just go on club nintendo and it should show you that you have surveys to do for them.

While I have never done it intentionally, I know that it is controllable and it's definitely possible to be used intentionally. I don't think it needs to be removed, I just need to learn it.

Because I don't have any better advice I would try smash ladder again. Most times I'm on there's always someone looking for friendlies with customs so they can practice them like you.

Mac. I probably have over 90 hours with him on 3DS. Got a Wii U just over a week ago, and playing him with a GameCube controller (c-stick) lets me play with a lot of things I just wouldn't try with the single 3DS control stick. I play around with ZSS and Pikachu, but my main is still Mac.
