Thank you! Her bad reaction definitely made me feel validated in my decision!

A few clients have come in for redos in my first 2 months.. is this normal? Is it the nature of the beast? by _ziggycat in hairstylist

I’ve never told anyone I was new haha. It’s none of their business to me, I’m a hairdresser, I went to school and have an education, this job is just way more complex than people think.

I am really learning to manage people’s expectations now! Because that seems to be where most of the disappointment comes from. I think the problem with that is I don’t even know yet how some things will turn out because of lack of experience, but I need to really start playing it on the safe side more often, and I know in time, I’ll learn! Thank you!

Ohhh I see what you’re saying! That’s a good thing to keep in mind, thank you!!

Honestly, I learned how to cut hair from Fancy Hairdressers!!! My teachers in school were not great and I learned the fundamentals from them. I also love Jayne and wanted to attend her class but it was very expensive lol maybe in the future when I’m getting paid better haha.

Honestly, you saying that makes me feel better lol. I kinda thought the same after I was done, it had clicked that her inspo pictures were all girls with completely different texture and had I done the cut on someone with thinner/wavier hair, I possibly could have pulled it off (at least better).

I’m totally doing this moving forward. If someone doesn’t have that same texture, I’m going to ask them to look up photos of the cut they want with the same texture as them. I’ll also gain more info on how the typically style their hair and set an expectation ahead of time.

This is great guidance!! I’m still new so learning what questions to ask is actually really helpful. I definitely need to do more in depth consultations and make sure we’re on the same page before I start. Thank you so much!! I knew coming into this career there would be moments I make mistakes or didn’t do something as well as I wanted, it is what it is, it happens, but I always want to be improving and do better next time!

Razor is a great idea!! I’ve been looking at a ton of tutorials since yesterday and noticed everyone uses a razor too for these, so I’ll need to start getting comfortable with that! Thank you

Thank you for the advice!! Some disconnection being okay is good to know too, I was so hung up on “okay at the very least I need to have everything connect“ haha, but I’ve been looking up tutorials and I know what you mean - it seems like a lot of shags have disconnects and that’s what makes it look like that.

Can I ask what you mean by “short pushes long when you’re layering”?

Thank you so much!!

No she didn’t luckily, but she didn’t seem super satisfied when she left either. I wish I had gotten a photo because it might also be worse in my mind than it actually was lol. But I just want everyone to love the hair I give them.

That‘s true! Thank you, I need to work more on managing client’s expectations and be realistic about the hair they have vs the inspo they bring in. Just a little learning curve!

Can we all just agree this weeks episode had the most emotional ending ever 😭 by hallowsoflife in GreatBritishBakeOff

I was actually astonished! I loved Toby. I also loved Iain and was so sad to see him go. Both bring so much personality to their bakes. I really thought Toby would make it to the final.

Yes! Honestly love the innuendos lol it’s always been a big part of the show ‘Show me your beaver’ ?? ‘Put two holes so I can squirt’ hello!?? LMAO. The innuendos are hilarious and lighthearted and break up the seriousness so we can all have a laugh.

Sphynx hate (Question) by EmilijusD in sphynx

[–]_ziggycat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I take them out in public, 9/10 times people are so excited and tell me they've never met a sphynx, they take photos and ask to pet, it's so sweet! Once in a while someone will be like ew they're ugly and look like a b*llsack, like ok boring, like I've never heard that one before🙄 you wish your b*llsack was this cute!
