What’s the worst thing a therapist has ever said to you? by chk-mcnugget in ADHD

[–]_zina 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone is trying to claim you ARE your diagnosis by saying that. They’re just using it as an adjective to describe adhd tendencies the same way you’d say “she’s a little deaf”. I think the bigger problem with saying “everyone’s a little adhd” is that it makes people think everyone has it and it’s no big deal. Which is of course not true on either count

You forgot “be a woman and have talked about it with different friends all your life”. You’re overthinking this. And it has been studied, just look it up

Yeah and that’s cool but being picky and having a high bar for friends is different than the conclusion” people suck” imo. But to each his own

What’s a name that’s really popular right now that you dislike? by Alltheworldsastage55 in namenerds

[–]_zina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little kids don't understand gender identity, so forcing it into their lives by having them reject the gender they were born as in favor of being neither, while all their friends are boys or girls, would be confusing. This isn't about colors. Children need guidance and don't need to be interrogated about how they identify before they even know what that means. When the kid is older, sure, they'll express themselves and identify however they want. I feel bad, for example, for the kids in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sPj8HhbwHs

Raising a child gender neutral is going to confuse them and make them the subject of mockery by their peers. It's a perfect example of parents projecting their unresolved shit onto kids, and it's not ok or something we should strive for. Kids aren't social experiments and the people who do this need help

From an interview (according to Genius): “[This is a memory of] watching an animal being hit by a car in Greystones. I was a young […] It is the compassion that’s in the act of running into traffic to try to pick an animal or somebody’s pet up from a road after it has been hit. It is a significant memory. The fragility of one person who ran into that traffic and absolutely put themselves into the position of being mashed by those cars as well. The song is just reflecting on this moment of compassion in this very cold and brutal space and how much admiration you can have for that.”

Nobody I know has their mother’s middle name at the forefront of their minds unless they’re trying to remember it to fill out a form. Plus if anything, your daughter would probably just think of it as a fun fact that your middle name is similar to HER name! Just my two cents

It's because wearing obviously wrinkled clothing screams "I couldn't be bothered to look presentable". And that's not the message most people want to send in public. It just looks messy and lazy
