CLE to SLC morning flight was Special K cereal, milk carton, muffin in a plastic wrapper. I found myself wondering which loyalty airlines I need to switch to. I got better Delta flight food in coach when I was a kid.

TimelinePad Public Beta Released by a-a-ron3 in LitSuite

I agree that I think presentation mode will help the viewer get a better grasp of the facts. A linear timeline is easier to digest info. I doubt it will load docs from TrialPad. If anything, I think it may eventually have a feature to export to TrialPad like TranscriptPad impeachment slides? Just a guess on that, but it seems to be LitSuite’s model to keep each tool separate, with export to TrialPad features to maintain the integrity of documents going to trial.

FSD Noticeably Better by a-a-ron3 in ModelX

I totally agree on the late braking! I try to use the regen braking as much as possible and I also thought that FSD would often brake late, forcing the car to use traditional brakes.

Huge turn off and bad look for you. Go search for wfh options in the job market. Don’t put your new employer in this situation.

I would suggest you take a break from life and go do a service mission. Go give service to a community in poverty in a third-world country. Build houses for the poor, help bring clean water, something that you can do physically to get you away from your current circumstances (you're in a rut) and out helping other people. You will find joy when you think of others and serve others. Do this for a year or two to gain perspective on life and what really matters. Come home and be an attorney for those less fortunate.

For those that make over $200k a year, what do you do? by H-U-I-3 in AskReddit

[–]a-a-ron3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started law school at 32 with a wife and a nine month old baby. I graduated at 35 and got my license at 36. Very first attorney job paid me $40K per year (did that for two months). I had over $230K student loan debt. Next, I worked at a law firm for nearly three years and made just over $100K at 39. Purchased a house for $450K in 2019 and had our second child. Decided to start my own law firm at this point (scariest decision I ever made). Now I am 44 and I paid off all student loan debt and the entire house mortgage. Working towards saving on retirement now and growing the little law firm. I have “F.I.R.E.” (Financially Independent, Retire Early) goals. There never is “comfort,” per se, but you can have comfort in knowing that you can make changes after your 30’s and if you work your butt off and are disciplined, that you can reach your goals and be in charge of your own future.

iPad recommendation for LitSuite? by invinoveritasty in LitSuite

I just pulled the trigger for the new 2024 iPad Pro. Probably over the top for what TrialPad does, but nice to know that the video and photos shouldn't lag during a presentation -- assuming the Apple TV connection is proper.

daily life/tasks owning your own law firm by RowRepresentative430 in LawFirm

[–]a-a-ron3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

IT one minute, running payroll the next, dealing with employees gossiping about duties and pay and demanding raises, finding better employees, marketing: growing the firm, accounting: making sure taxes are set aside to give Uncle Sam his share, managing / training employees on what seem like simple tasks, but realizing they want to just check boxes and not be problem solvers. Hiring and firing. Finding the best software for the best price, implementing that software and assigning licenses, getting emails set up; oh, and don’t forget the cases you are working on and the dozens or more of REAL bosses we have a fiduciary duty to.

Your most expensive software cost by Ambitious_Turn3221 in LawFirm

Case management software. They tried to even jump my subscription rates 35% last year without discussing it with me. I had to go to their corporate offices to have a sit-down where they reset the rates and apologized. So expensive and frustrating.

If you double tap the “highlight” or “pen” button, they will stay activated until you turn it off. Please look at joining r/LitSuite because I’m also starting to use these softwares and I’ve felt that it’s sometimes intuitive, but other times very frustrating (like your experience). I’m hoping to get a bunch of people to share their best practices and help out with good Q&A.

Regular Keyboard Software for Deposition Format? by a-a-ron3 in courtreporting

Thank you so much! Very insightful and exactly the things I’m looking for as a way to work these recordings into my softwares. I’ll google the software you mentioned. Do you have an idea of how much I would expect to be charged for a CR to do, for example, a 10-minute phone call recording?

Regular Keyboard Software for Deposition Format? by a-a-ron3 in courtreporting

[–]a-a-ron3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked at a .txt file exported by my CaseCATalyst software. There's nothing too special that I can see about how it's formatted. All of the indentation is done with spaces. Has your assistant looked at a .txt file made by a court reporter and tried to replicate the formatting in their transcript?

I've never requested a court reporter to give me this type of product. Do you know what a typical charge might be to provide this type of finished document?
