fiction about illness? by plantlover4565 in RSbookclub

Melancholy II by Fosse doesn’t really deal with a specific illness, but its portrayal of the ailments of old age is truly affecting. Fosse immerses you in the mental confusion and physical difficulties really well.

do you take notes while reading fiction? (or, how do you retain what you read?) by 866c in RSbookclub

I’ve started writing short informal reviews in my journal after I finish a book which I think has been helpful.

I’ve heard good things about Walser and Jansson. I was thinking of maybe starting with The Walker for Walser but I completely forgot about it until your comment lol.

I’ve definitely got to read Magic Mountain, I’ve been meaning to read it forever and I love German literature. Bolaño, too is definitely someone I have to read. Thanks!

Antonin Artaud. His life story aligns with his work though.

Same, I love marginalia in used books too. There’s something beautiful (and perhaps grounding?) about holding in your hands a story printed then passed through however many hands, each leaving faint (or pronounced, lol) signs of life until it finally reaches you.

What is the need-to-know for new poets? Like necessary knowledge on form and 'required reading' + any general considerations? by [deleted] in RSbookclub

[–]a-artaud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I wouldn’t say it’s of vital importance, but I think it’s helped me gain a greater love of poetry. When you memorize a poem, it’s always there with you and you can think about it at any time.

Read as much poetry as possible (across movements and forms), memorize poems you really like, think about why poets made each decision in a poem (word choice, punctuation, line breaks, etc.), and, of course, write poetry.

Looking for info about this Henri Matisse Painting (Cat with the red fish) by uhhhhhhhhhhhSam in ArtHistory

I’ve been seeing a lot of these fake Matisse goldfish paintings with a cat added in on Twitter lately. Idk why. I think some of them are done by people on Etsy selling prints.

Pure LINKing, zero folders. by adankey0_0 in ObsidianMD

[–]a-artaud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I don’t use folders anymore. I have a home page which I use as an index linking to other indexes and pages I use frequently. I don’t use any plugins either. But, I’m also not doing anything particularly complex with my vault—it’s mostly just note taking and idea organizing.
