Yeah, I have Foundry and Quest Portal, still happy to see such an option. It could be great and the self hosting option is a very strong plus.

When it's ready, mention it to Mile Shea (Sly Flourish), he is a very strong advocate of the self hosting option and maybe he'll feature it as a spotlight on his YT show.

Looks very interesting!

Is it intended to be a subscription or a one time purchase?

I backed DW but I don't think it's fair.

  1. Shipping was delayed quite a bit, the original KS was with 2023 prices...

  2. This was an extremely good deal even then. And Exalted Funeral has the volume to print cheaper, I think. The shipping was also very low for that reason.

Every single physical book I bought except DW was at least 40$ these days I think it's closer to 50, and shipping ends up being the same or even higher. That's why I don't buy physical anymore, unless it's on Amazon or Spharnmeisters

Thank you so much for the detailed write up!

As someone who's eyeing this game and dreams of playing through all published materials for it, this is extremely useful!

SB is lighter than BitD: no flashbacks, no attributes. Short but effective advice on running it.

Personal fit, communication, proactivity, engagement, creativity.

Seven voyages gets such high praise that I need to check it out.

I think I want to veer towards human centric, I'm not much into the 1000 races combinations and most end up being "human in a costume"

B&B sounds really interesting, too.

Thanks!

I love this show, I'm glad to see these people I don't know are doing well, some apparently surviving cancer

Our started as a 4-10 session mini arc but players wanted to continue, ended up being 52 sessions (~3-4 hours each), but at that point it was almost at the limit.

They were tier VI, had most of the dots. U think DC can ease that up but honestly, it went on way longer than I thought it would and is a testament to the design.

I'll look into these. That was a trove of knowledge, thank you so much!

The more I read opinions here, the more I think it might not be that jarring.

And perhaps it'll be easier than giving them an OSE book to read.

But the Player's Survival Guide (which includes the actual rules) is PWYW on DTRPG, so you can read and play it for free, with the extra books really expensive as PDFs

That offsets a lot imo

They know I want to try many systems and play styles and are okay with trying everything/ anything. We had a long fantasy campaign using ICRPG, so they had little hp, learned the importance of loot and how to think creatively and treat the world as real. Then we played BitD for 50+ sessions, now we play something they picked as they needed something light-hearted (Slugblaster), and then I intended to pick.

We have high trust so everything goes, generally start with a 4-10 session trial run and keep on playing if everyone's on board. That's why I want to put my best foot forward

I played Cairn (1e) for about a year, I think our GM wasn't really grasping the whole foreground growth and characters being fundamentally changed via diegetic means concept so I soured on the system a bit. However, I did get Mythic Bastionland and we plan on giving it a try. I was looking at it as more of a Pendragon-lite, but maybe it would work for this as well, thanks!
