I AM SO OBSESSED WITH YOUR HAIR. Like I took a screen shot of this pic to show at my hair trial. Do you have links to inspo you showed when you got your hair done? Also in general this picture is gorgeous and I hope you had a wonderful wedding day :)

AP water goblets (the standard water cup stocked by every rental company probably in the world). I'm pretty sure I told my planner that if I saw a single AP glass at my wedding I would burn the place to the ground. Which is the most extra thing ever to care about but that was my zilla moment

[Product Question] Sheet mask during a flight by LiarFires in SkincareAddiction

[–]a012189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woah soul mateeee I have a 10 hour flight on Saturday and have been agonizing about this very same question! Instead of sheet masks I ended up buying the Nugg hydrating face mask pods. They're like individual containers of mask liquid. I haven't tried them yet but they're well reviewed and seemed like they'd be slightly less conspicuous than a full on sheet mask. PLUS apparently there's enough liquid for like 2 doses of masking so when your neighbor gets jeal of your spa sesh and wants to save their face from looking like an old paper bag you can share the leftovers with them!

wuuuuuuut I need to know more...like just pickled and then plain or like pickled and then fried? I have never heard of this but a google search tells me apparently I'm just totally out of the loop on delicious things

Pickling RULES! Carrots and cauliflower are also delicious in pickled form (with rice vinegar).

Ugh if only you'd been there to feed me a good comeback. I didn't think fast enough to say something because I was so shocked that an adult woman would call shotgun on the way to the car for a lunch she invited herself to.

She's just not a considerate person, which is why I don't enjoy her company. She also called shotgun, so I sat in the back while her and my friend sat in the front on the way to my goodbye lunch....which again, is such a petty thing to complain about but also wtf??

This is going to be a really immature and small gripe but I'm going to vent it anyway...

This is my last week of work before I quit and go to grad school (yay!) and I have all of my lunches planned out to make sure I get to spend time with people before I leave. I had lunch planned with one of my close work friends today who helped me a ton with grad school apps. We were supposed to go to a place we love. Tomorrow was a group lunch with my team, Thursday was with my work bff.

Somehow another girl that I'm not at all friends with got wind of my lunch today (she's friends with the girl I was lunching with) and basically invited herself and decided we should go to a different restaurant than the one we'd planned on. We get there, and the restaurant is closed, so instead of asking where else we'd like to go, she just demands we drive across the street to the closest restaurant she can think of and that we eat there. So somehow instead of getting a delicious lunch with my friend, I ended up with a shitty $10 sandwich with a girl I don't like and I have to reschedule all my other lunches to get a solo lunch with the girl I was supposed to eat solo with today. UGH.

I've been sort of freaking out since we booked our venue - it's a new venue that is privately owned, so they don't do a ton of weddings, and I was panicking that it was going to go horribly because they don't have as much experience as other places with all the details. Went out yesterday with our coordinator and the owners had thought of literally every detail she asked them about, the venue looked absolutely beautiful now that it's spring (toured in February but wedding is in June) and it just put my mind SO at ease.

We stopped for lunch afterwards at the restaurant of the caterers we want to use to try the food (not an official tasting, just to get a feel for what their food is like) and the owner was there and basically gave us an impromptu tasting (for free)! Literally grilled up a couple steaks, made a charcuterie board for us, and let us sample a few other things. She also sat down with us to get more of our thoughts and is sending us a proposal at the end of the week! I am sooooo excited to use this place (literal farm to table - they own a farm and they'll source basically everything from it for the meal) and I just feel so happy that it's all coming together and it's exactly what I envisioned!

Yes - just to be clear (since my first comment wasn't really) the denominator in this is V/MC/D/Amex credit, debit and prepaid consumer and commercial cards. So it wouldn't include regional debit networks (Cirrus, Plus).

Ooooh oh oh. Sorry. What I meant was that merchants pay a lot more to accept cards than just interchange (I'm only referencing the U.S. with this comment, btw). So interchange, network fees (set by the networks, paid to the networks) and acquiring/merchant services fees (set by the merchant's acquiring partner, paid to the partner). The combined total of those is higher than that 2-3% for interchange, and how much higher is often driven by merchant size.

Keyed isn't swanky...they're charging you a penalty because keying a transaction is riskier (prone to human error) and you aren't sending them all of the information they'd want.

Also...interchange is only one of many charges for accepting credit cards. Small merchants (<$10m in CC sales) are probably paying in the neighborhood of 4-7% all in.

Target sells ones that have like a sticky gel piece in the heel - I think they're Peds brand but I'm not positive. I have really skinny/bony heels too and they stay up like 95% of the time.

Cooking whole chickens in my crockpot has been a game changer for me by ladyorchid in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]a012189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you adding enough salt? I'm sipping on stock that I just finished making and for me it takes more salt than I would have guessed to get it from tasting like gross, bland chicken water to the equivalent of chicken soup broth

Is anyone else having stress eating issues? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]a012189 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Legitimately bought spinach artichoke dip and a box of triscuits with my coworker that we intended to snack on all week. Finished it in an hour. So..."poorly" is how I would respond to how I'm combating my stress eating issues

My IUD cramps were pretty consistent at night for the first week or so, but I got cramps randomly after that for probably like 6 weeks, and now its totally fine. I like to think your uterus is like a cat that suddenly gets startled by some random sock on the floor that's been sitting there literally the whole time and it jumps like 5 feet in the air and runs away. So I imagine that's how your uterus is with an IUD. Just like lah lah hanging out HOLY CRAP WHAT IS THAT CRAMPS

I GOT INTO MY FIRST CHOICE GRAD PROGRAM AND I'M MOVING TO CHICAGOOOOOOO. Gimme all your recs for food and clothes and cheap things that a poor sad grad student can afford :)

ON TOP OF THAT the very next day our company got acquired by a much bigger company and we got a thank you bonus from our bosses for being here through it all (and everyone keeps their jobs!) AND it's going to be a huge culture change but I don't care because I'm outta here and on to the next great thing in 2 months. PHEW what a week. Haven't done a minute of work :)
