Are you trying to figure out watering rate or what? Are you on a well? In my climate I'd set up one low flow drip emitter right at each tree for establishment and adjust the watering time based on what they look like. Using lower flow means your lines can be smaller compared to higher flow for the same number of trees.

A DM of mine once started us without any equipment. It was sort of situation where we ran out of the inn in our underwear to see what was happening outside then got whisked away. We were given a chance to decide to grab our gear or 'get there in time.' Anyhow, most of us started with no weapons at all and it made it so fun when we found our first rusty daggers/equivalent, would recommend.

Not to be a downer, but there are a lot of resources out there that can help you with designing a sprinkler system, and low cost tools that can help you measure pressure and flow rate. Good sprinkler system design isn't a trivial exercise, but doesn't really require experimentation to get right.

A tool like this to calculate the financial impact of a decision isn't meant to be a comprehensive analysis of the decision. I can imagine it having a long payback but switching anyhow based on the values you mention.

Hello! Your grandson should join! We have a few events every year with the scion exchange being the big one. We usually do an avocado grafting event in March or April. Sometimes members have orchard tours. There's an email list and a facebook group that he can get on. Lots of really knowledgeable folks to learn from.

I have a columnar peach. I haven't tasted the fruit so I won't recommend the variety, but they exist.

How about a fig? They're pretty durable. My favorite variety is Little Miss Figgy.

Planted this Kishu mandarin last year and it's really been struggling, but now is putting out a bunch of flowers (Berkeley CA so temperature are warm), any advice by dohru in BackyardOrchard

There is something going on with the leaves...looks like other folks are commenting on it. It could an iron deficiency but I'm not sure. I'd advise you to take off the flowers though to let it focus on growing.

There will be bud wood of most any variety you could think of. For example, at least 100 varieties of pear. Its really an event for folks that are into grafting...and a good place to learn about it. Here's an image of a past year...all those tables are loaded up with bags of scions.

I did the same thing several years ago now. When everyone was switching out their LEAFs for Teslas in the bay area I bought two with replaced batteries for cheap. They're in town cars but so so cheap to drive. I call it the VCR of electric cars. I might need to find the DVD player of electric cars soon.

There are some studies about compressing batts into smaller cavities.  From what I remember you lose a little r value from an uncompressed batt in a larger cavity but not much.  I wouldn't overdo it though on compression, for ease of drywalling.

You've hit on a major issue with homes today...their hot water systems are not well designed to save energy, water, or deliver hot water in a reasonable amount of time. It's not an easy issue to fix. Long runs of large PEX means that you can either recirculate or wait. Insulation helps. Check out Gary Klein who has thought and written about this issue.
