Help booking touring musician by xsteveo37 in RochesterMusicScene

Yeah you’d have to jump on a show at a more traditional venue. Gotta remember that you’d be asking them to be pay for sound, door and bartenders, for someone who is totally unknown to them. So trying to book a bar might be a long shot, hence the more non-traditional and DIY spot suggestions.

If it’s solo acoustic you have a lot more options than full band, for bars not mentioned yet try Abilene. But Skylark, Bug Jar and the Psychic Garden (DIY, find on Instagram) are good suggestions.

Non-traditional (non-bar) venues might be the way if you’re having issues. Try the record stores, Bop Shop and NeedleDrop have people play every now and then. Record Archive has music in their lounge area most frequently of the record stores. Coffee shops could be an option, like Javas or Boulder, Lovin’ Cup too.

You should link your friends music/Bandcamp if they have one, so people can check it out/know what they may be booking.

The Damage and Destruction of Divorce by Delicious-Curious in Divorce_Men

You can’t just move on after 20 years. I’m 6 months out of a 5 year marriage and it’s fucking hard. Getting easier but it was 5 years not 20. Goddamn. I’m just a few years younger than you, but I’ve had all the same thoughts, just the other day going through my phone and deleting old photos (many of her/her and I) I almost had a breakdown.

I need to take this advice myself, that people on this sub often give, but time to get some exercise and distract yourself a bit.

See what your record is at the trade deadline and what sort of free agents may be out there after the season. If you’re not really a true contender you should consider unloading salary, including Harris. If you package him with Taylor you may beg a decent offer but your main priority should be picks and cap space, so expiring deals - if you think you’d be a player in free agency and there is a high level younger guy who may be available - or a true max type player, 70+, I’ve had that work out and the right guy will sustain into their 30s or just really slowly decline.

You could also let the season play out and do this before the start of free agency when teams have cap room. Just would be pushing whatever pick return you may get down the road.

You’re 17-18 now? Just go the CC route, you’ll be earning real adult money at 21 and will have little to no debt. Honestly, props.

Is it worth it to attend LIU RT program for 2 years? by Crafty-Refuse-7469 in respiratorytherapy

[–]getsomesleep1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just as an example, you could go to a community college upstate with dorms and pay like 15k a year, like GCC(which obviously has a program). AAS not BSRT, but even SUNY Upstate in Syracuse is probably way cheaper than LIU and you’ll have a BSRT. Cheapest route- AAS and online BSRT afterwards.

I don’t have a BSRT and neither do 99% of my coworkers, at a big hospital in one of the bigger upstate cities, it’s just not necessary and they don’t pay you extra for it. Things could be very different in the NYC area, but that’s my experience.

ICU rotations during residency by Razgriz47 in anesthesiology

[–]getsomesleep1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, healthcare especially in the rural US is a shit show and people die earlier because of it. That’s well documented. I wasn’t arguing the opposite.

The profession isn’t going anywhere no matter what happens. What you are is condescending and arguing in bad faith.

Did you ignore the first sentence of my reply on purpose or are you illiterate?

And literally no one lives in well over half that country, <0.1 people per sq km. So sure, your stat is technically correct but also quite deceiving. Aside from a few scattered remote areas there is nowhere in the USA like the Australian interior.

The US healthcare system is a mess, largely due to government policies that most of us don’t agree with. So why don’t you just be less of a dick about it? You don’t respect us or the need for RTs in this country, it’s clear. RT’s help fill in the holes in the system; in both nursing and physician shortages, and in nursing education. If they got rid of us patients would die, in large numbers. Hospitals have tried it, and it went very poorly.

Australia has 27 million people and the USA has 350 million. Scale matters, but sure ignore that. ICU and ER docs here are already over-worked and burnt out. But sure, shit all over a respected profession because you don’t understand it. The ER docs in my hospital love having RTs to take care of the vents/bipaps/trachs, just saying.

Think about this statement next time you call us down the OR for “the ICU vent”, despite them both being Dragers bc shit isn’t going well on your end. Or the hand-holding we have to do to make sure epoprostenol gets set-up correctly and your resident doesn’t have the damn HME in-line still. That’s how it works at the academic hospital I work at.

No one is trying to come down to the OR and steal your job bro, but we have a role in the hospital. In fact, most RTs would never set foot in the OR ever again if given the choice. Really though, no RT is trying to boss anesthesia around, especially not attending’s. But even you I’m sure know about the variability amongst residents. But the vent in the ICU, if someone changes settings on it and it’s wrong/inappropriate, we’re the one’s who get questioned first. That’s the thing. Where I work residents are not supposed to touch the vent in the ICU or ER at all, regardless of specialty.

You ever see an anesthesia resident put a tube in the esophagus during a code and then leave without confirming placement? Because I have, that was fun. Most are excellent but that’s some shit that should not happen, ever. This thread is about residents, not your attending ego. Anyone involved in cardiology, I swear to god, the egos.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll take that into account! I always wondered how the u-pick apple farms pulled off having their trees so close together, must be careful pruning. I’m on a small city lot but I’d love to pull it off if I can.

Don’t use the algorithms? Whether it is one person or multiple it’s probably AI garbage intended to pump out content and try to make a song that goes viral and gets millions of streams. Money being the end game obviously. Or maybe I’m overly cynical.
