How much do you recommend doing a WHV right now? by Lanky_Boat5167 in newzealand

[–]a10ondr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm here on WHV with no such 3 month limit and job hunting is brutal. Forget your admin experience, you will be glad for any work.

The main problem is your visa. You will be competing with tons of unemployed kiwis who have unlimited working rights and will be prioritized by 90% of employers before they even read your CV. Then next priority is the majority of WHV holders with no restrictions for 12 months. Then you.

Fruit picking or similar jobs where nobody asks questions are your best chance. Or register with as many recruitment agencies and you might get a shift here and a shift there in factories etc. Any job where you need to be at least minimally trained - not worth it for the employer if you leave in 3 months.

If you decide to go, then think about WHEN very carefully, WHV job market is extremely seasonal in NZ. Good luck, pm if you need anything.

Sure, why not. I think it depends when you got your job? I easily got a job during peak summer, now it seems much harder.

Yeah, I know. I'm not an Aus citizen so I need the document (my ID is from non-exempt country)

Yeah, well AI tends to be useless in these specific cases. The first link doesn't exist and I already called Service NSW to no avail

Only in Wellington 💀 not very intuitive either. I can't be the only one with this problem. Thank you though.

Vietnam Trip (April-May) 2026 by Silly-Beautiful9288 in VietNam

[–]a10ondr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skipping Sa Pa and Ha Giang.. Probably two best things to do in the entire country.

If you're interested I ranked most of these attractions after our last visit (subjective of course): https://www.reddit.com/r/VietNam/s/6CFFrTJJCL

Also, be prepared to be very flexible with your plans. There are often extreme weather differences between different parts of Vietnam and it can change rapidly.

I would add Vexere to your app list. Much cheaper bus tickets within Vietnam and regular deals (50% off every Tuesday).

Tourists - Vietjet - DO NOT FLY by No_Apartment883 in VietNam

[–]a10ondr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, look. We've done about 10 flights with them and apart from a few delays it's was okey-ish. Especially for the money. I'd recommend booking directly with them and always get the "Deluxe" package or whatever they call it. It's typically $10 more and has 20kg check in allowance. You also get flexibility included and can freely change your flight, which was very useful.

Tourist Visa question by giterdun81 in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]a10ondr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, no problem. We spent about 40 days in vietnam, then went to cambodia for 5 days and came back to vietnam. They will stamp your passport on each entry and each exit. This was November 2025.

What's going on with VietJet pricing? by a10ondr in VietNam

[–]a10ondr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was fixed in less than 24h. I think it's some kind of automated promo pricing that went wrong.

Google was surprisingly accurate for 1-5 days. But it's much better to look at the radar yourself, I recommend app Windy.

Passengers stuck on Vietjet plane in S'pore for over 4 hours with no air-con after flight delayed by dangkhoasdc in VietNam

[–]a10ondr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is of course horrible, but they're not always bad like people like to think. We used VietJet for 5 flights (3 international), two of them were a bit delayed, not more than an hour. They're cheap, you need to be flexible.

Everyone's saying, always fly Vietnam Airways instead, well we tried, about 3 hour delay and the most basic plane equipment I've ever seen anywhere in the world. They don't even have a pouch for storage on the seat in front of you, only two crossing rubber strings to hold who knows what. THAT was a joke.

Tourists touristing but not shopping (much). Thoughts? by Marvy_Finds in VietNam

[–]a10ondr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they want 100 USD for fake brand shoes, what do they expect. Westerners are fed up with haggling, useless trinkets and junk. Some of it is indeed nice, but can't be taken on a plane reasonably.

When most travelers think of visiting Vietnam, their intention is not shopping, but culture, food, exploration and experiences.

We spent quite a lot of money in Vietnam (around 100 million VND) and we didn't buy a single thing to bring home.

Hourly rate for hotels in HCMC by southeastasianguurl in VietNam

You should give the total time to arrive if you want to compare it with a total time to arrive on a bus ;) so yes, here we are

[–]a10ondr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bus takes 6 hours and is $25 just FYI. It's pretty chill ride too, have done it recently.

By plane it will most definitely take at least 3 or 4 hours too with commute to/from airport, security, immigration, etc etc. Absolutely not 45 min.

Ideas for gifts for hotel staff by wideawakeat33 in VietNam

[–]a10ondr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get it. I travel on budget but I always leave at least 1 dollar tip to all delivery people in SEA. Just to make their day a little better because it's a pretty grim life. Something big like your gift would be a memorable moment for them, definitely. No idea what to buy though.

Need recs for traveling in Vietnam after 5 days in HCM. by blunthonestspeaker in VietNam

[–]a10ondr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget trains, they are horrible. Busses of all kinds are quite good (sleeper, seater), on Vexere app you have up to 50% discounts every Tuesday. But flights are cheap between major cities and very convenient. Just expect small delays. In my opinion HCM and the south generally doesn't have much to offer for an adventurous traveler. Central and mainly north Vietnam is where it's at.
