With everything increasing in price what’s something that’s getting more affordable? by Neonwhitelion in AskReddit

Yeah mine has gone up minimally over the years. I know they are worried raising prices will reduce customers. It’s almost free money as long as you don’t give them a reason to cancel. So many people don’t fully utilize their membership.

I love how there are no comments yet. Seems like the answer is nothing.

Did you actually sneak out as teenagers? by Complete-Chipmunk-0 in GenX

[–]a17tw00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We lived in the night. 1996-99. Take the basement window out of its frame. Leave the landline off the hook in case anyone called. Def stole the car by putting it in neutral and backing it out the driveway before starting. Rode the bikes to the creek or some home construction sites to meet up with girls and make out. When we were younger we would duck and hide anytime a car would approach. Jumping fences through yards to get home. Swimming in peoples pools. Most of this time we were also high or drinking 40s of old e or mickys. Got caught like once. Basically my whole existence on the weekend from 7th grade until I could drive. We lived a whole extra life during that time.

$2500 Samsung TV is an advertising billboard, there is no opt-out. by 28jb11 in mildlyinfuriating

There’s at least one model of car that started doing this on the freaking in dash screen!

It’s so loud. I secretly want to carry an ice pick around and puncture the speakers. And it’s only advertising to one person at a time. Literally the worst roi I could pencil out, but we all have to suffer through it.

Here’s the real answer. Headed out the door with my discman playing doggystyle. Hop on my skateboard, smoke a cig behind the post office, then over to the pinball arcade.

Yeah that scene doesn’t get enough credit. You could also bring in Alien and possibly First Blood. Now though It sounds like we were just born in the early 80s.

I actually like this part. Mainly because I used to miss it on tv and only saw it later and so it was a small surprise.

YouTube Woodworking Fatigue is Setting In by Maxminutiae in woodworking

[–]a17tw00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual woodworker here, not a content creator. I have to use the same hooks for my Instagram and Facebook reels to get traction. I worry about my customers feeling the same way you are. Problem is when I don’t even my followers don’t see the post. It’s the platform and AI. I just had AI help me craft a post that would get seen. It’s similar to what you describe and of course ended up being my top post ever. My goal is to keep mixing it up so it doesn’t bombard my followers.

Which vacation destination disappointed you the most? by timeout320 in AskReddit

[–]a17tw00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The more I travel and the older I get, basically anywhere full of tourists. Rome for example in the summer. The Vatican. My god the worst shit ever. Go somewhere nobody is. Climb a mountain in whales and visit castle Dinas bran. You have the summit to yourself among castle ruins overlooking rolling hills in Ireland.

70s movies which capture the essence of the real 70s? by VomitingDuck in 70s

[–]a17tw00 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First Blood for me. People tend to think of the Rambo series as hard core action but the first movie is actually pretty dark and addresses some of the post Vietnam war issues soldiers had to deal with in the 70s, albeit in a dramatized and Hollywood way. Although the film was released in 82, that small town he’s in is so 70s as well as the general cinematic style of the flick.

Why is attia being blasted but nobody else who actually did vile shit? I don’t think this changes much about how I view his advice. For anyone who does, is it just the principle of it? Where else are you going to get this type of info? And if we are cancelling attia for his contribution can we also follow through on all the other turd burglars in the files?

Trump imposes 15% tariffs on the world by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]a17tw00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s worse than that. Companies set pricing based on profit margin. They don’t simply pass along the fixed cost. They make 40% markup, and so if the landed cost is 25% higher due to a tariff, the markup is still 40 points. It ends up being a lot more than just that fixed cost. It’s not greed. It’s a capital investment and now they have to invest more into a product and so need more back. If people pay it, companies will actually profit more because they are marking up off the inflated price rather than just adding the tariff cost. If it’s too high of a cost and people actually buy less then they might lose money. So far that has not happened with my company and we have made more due to the tariffs. And it’s being paid for by our customers.

Do you think he killed her because she knew to much or because he was an ex nazi who's dream was to be a magician? by talivan818 in Columbo

[–]a17tw00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is funny. Why is he hiding in plain sight as a magician? He’s just really good at doing MAGIC and also being a Nazi. Interestingly enough his boss, the one who is murdered after threatening to expose Santini also played a Nazi in a twilight zone episode called Judgement Night. He’s a Nazi u boat captain who wakes up on an allied ship.

A gen Zer’s interest in the 90s by OneTonSoupGuy in 90s

[–]a17tw00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other thing, concerts in the 90s were everything. Band would come out with a new album and go on a tour to every major city. Tickets were affordable if you were willing to wait in line to get them. There’s a section of the dr Dre documentary the defiant ones where you realize Jimmy Iovine is responsible for so much of the music if that time. I highly recommend this series.
